#5 password having non 7-bit chars

I am trying to use pam_smb v 1.1.7 (smbval) to authenticate users using NT server.
It works fine when password contains 7-bit chars.

When the password contains non 7-bit chars like éüàè (iso-8859-1 charset) the authentication doesn't work.

my question is :
The smbval module does it support these chars or not.
If not, do you have a work around or an idea to resolve this problem

PS: The smbval is compiled on a solaris 10 (64bits)
