Hello everyone. My name is Daniel. I am the new PalmOrb project manager. Check back soon for updates to the site(s) and program.
Thank you,
Daniel
I'm no longer maintaining this project. I lost interest in the project after working on LCD Smartie and obtaining over 10 real LCDs...
I have already received an email from somebody who wishes to take the project over! So hopefully you will see improvement in PalmOrb soon!
Bye,
Chris.
Changes since v1.1a3:
- bug fix: port was left open in some failure cases.
- bug fix: USB was failing with "NotSupported" on some models.
Main change is for supporting more USB Palms.
[USB on Windows requires LCD Smartie 5.3a3 or above]
PalmOrb enables the use of your PalmOS device as an LCD status display for your computer. You can display system stats (such as CPU load graphs, CPU temperatures, free disk space), news alerts, stock indexes, WinAmp graphs, etc.
Thanks to the fantastic resources offered by SourceForge.net, we are happy announce our first formal release in over two years!
The v1.0 release offers the following enhancements over the 0.9 release: robustness was increased and support was added for PalmOS 2.0+, color, serial port configuration, Bluetooth, Infrared, USB on Linux. Graffiti can be used to send keys. More built-in help text. Hi-res and color icons. Many smaller additions include backlight control, error warnings, serial stats, and serial error stats.... read more
Beta 3 has been released. In this release the LCD Smartie keyboard fix has been disabled by default.
The next release is likely to be v1.0 and it will be a repackage of Beta 3.
Experimental build C has been updated - it now allows the font to be selected and includes
two large fonts that allow the LCD to almost fill the screen. For more details see:

Build C is likely to be the direction that PalmOrb will take after the v1.0 release.... read more

Some big bug fixes in this one - hopefully that's will stop all the crashes.
Quite a few new features - including blue tooth and IrComm support.
Alpha 6 is uploaded.
Main change is: Fixed crash in PalmOS below 3.0. Was using large bold font in about box, but this is only available in PalmOS 3.0 and above.
A few other bugs fixed too.
Alpha 5 is now available.
Main changes are:
- Now able to configure the serial connection (baud, data & stop bits, etc).
- Fixed all KNOWN bugs.
For full details see the release notes for this build.
It's now been 5 days since Alpha 4 was released and the only negative feedback has been about USB PalmOS devices on Windows (see previous news item). Unfortunately no positive feedback has been received. [This seems strange when we have had (over the same period) over 350 unique vistors to our home page, and over 150 downloads.]
We need positive feedback so we will know when the alpha builds are stable enough to be released as a beta (and we can start work on enlarging the LCD screen).... read more
PalmOrb is not currently usable by USB PalmOS devices connected to Windows (it works just fine on Linux).
We need somebody with a USB Palm and Windows to try out some experiments - some research has been done and it has provided some ideas but we don't own a USB palm to try them out.
