Hi Ferret, No, I don't fiddle with this stuff anymore. Yes, the prc on the site only works with a serial console device. The framebuffer might be a factor as well. You could try recompiling the kernel without framebuffer support and/or getting the latest uClinux and see if it has support for USB (seems possible). -Craig Hi, I found the (Ancient) Palm sourceforge page you set up. Do you still ever fiddle with this? I gave a test on the Abacus AU5005 WristPDA (PalmOS 4.11) and it got to "Locking Devices" before just stopping still. I'm guessing this is because the framebuffer is not supported, and the Linux Kernel only works on a serial console? Hi, I just got an old Palm m100 and the first thing I wanted to do with it was, of course, to put Linux on it :) I used uClinuxPalm.prc and booted successfully without problem (I got garbage a few times, I still don't know why...) but for the moment I don't tried to get a framebuffer working on it. My wish it to erase the whole Palm firmware and only keep uClinux because I plan to unsolder core components and reuse the system in a custom embedded system (cheaper than a uClinux board). I know that I could flash it myself, maybe even in-situ, but i would prefer to do it with softwares before. I have no idea about how it could be achieved but I think it is possible at least from the HotSynced prd. Any suggestions ? -- Thibault VINCENT (aka TibaL) ti...@re... |

I have a Palm m515 and i want to put linux on it. I read your manual and i test the "uClinux_Palm_m500.prc" but i think that it crash. Also i test the other bootloaderb. On the display i can see the startup but then stop in th= e "Ordering image pages..." step. I download all the elements to make de uclinux image, but when i do the make config step, i don't know which vendo= r select. Any idea the vendor of the m515? I thought that the m515 was Palm but dont apper and on the net i don't found anything. Thanks for all. PD:Sorry, my english is very poor. |

I have a Palm IIIc that I am willing to use to test seeing as you need one, I just have a few questions before I dive into this. First, I found your site when I was searching to see if it was possible to have Linux running on my Palm IIIc (yes I have Linux experience, have built firewalls. routers, mail servers etc with linux but never done anything like this) and I am not sure if what you do is what I am looking for but I am willing to try. I will read and follow the online instruction as much as I can and report the results. Gerry. |

System: Palm III, OS v3.3, 1553k of 1952k available after clearing all other programs. Using PalmLoader PRC for Palm V from website. Messages: "Locking resources... 93 pages in 0x05d000 bytes|! Ordering imaage pages..." It then gives "Fatal Exception" Could it be that there is a minimum amount of ram for the system? |

I've a bottom of the range Zire (it's cheap). I've tried the prc file
for the m5xx but unsurprisingly it doesn't work :) Has anyone done any

I managed to add programs by building them separately and then copying them over to the filesystem which was then included in the prc. I know that's not a lot to go on, but maybe it's a start! -Craig |

I have a palm m105 and thought u might like to know=20 OS: 3.5.1( i think) palmloadse: yes flashable: no (has proper rom not flashrom) boots: yes shell via cradle: yes(serial) no garbage works fine framebuffer (i assume this means displays stuff on the palms screen): no touchscreen: no way to test standby: i think so as when i did cat cpuinfo it told me it was running = at 10MHz when its a 16 MHz processor this seems odd to me because a M105 is an M100 with a ram upgrade. = apparently the rom is exactly the same oh my version is a US version not EFIGS if you want any more info please let me know |

I am currently working on the port of uClinux on Sony Clie T series. The palmloader.c which I have download on uclinux.org CVS don't work but the one used by Rui He seem to launch linux.bin without problem on Clie. Could you tell me what are the modification to do on palmloader.c or can anyone can send me a correct loader. How dos linux in palm work, no interface yet? At the moment I have a palm though I dont have serial cable so testing these kernels etc.. isn't an option for me. I would however be interested to write some device drivers for the kernel if needed ( I can't test them but I can write the code for some else to test.. ) if anyone is still interested. I bet getting the stylus / lcd driver working as soon as possible would be nice? Has anyone read those motorolas cpu manuals? BR, Teemu. Hi, Just like to forward the status of running Palm Linux Environment on older Palm III w/ 1Mb RAM Status of running uClinuxPalm.prc: Fatal Exception Crashes after "Ordering image pages..." Device Info: Mot DragonBall 14Mhz. Palm OS: v3.0.2 Memory: only 1Mb RAM Please note: Palm III is meant to have 2Mb of RAM (& 1Mb ROM).
