I have been seeing others use or mention Docker Hub and such. I knew of this some years ago but didn't need it at the time and thought I didn't need another complicated wrapper around what I was doing. But I see that it provides a consistent container for apps. to install and run so there are many embracing developers and companies using it. I'll pursue it to find out what it can do for me, although just going back to running in a virtual machine might be easier over all. Thanks, I'm getting there on knowledge....
