Hi all, I'm new to packetfence (looks great btw) and I have just started testing with Packetfence 1.8.4 / CentOs 5.3 and a 3Com S4500 switch. I've configured packetfence and the switch according to the manual and I'm receiving traps from the switch. However packetfence seems to ignore them: ----8<---------------------- pfsetvlan(25): ignoring unknown trap: 2009-10-17|20:55:17|UDP: [10.200.1.3]:1024|0.0.0.0|BEGIN TYPE 0 END TYPE BEGIN SUBTYPE 0 END SUBTYPE BEGIN VARIABLEBINDINGS .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.3.0 = Timeticks: (600252) 1:40:02.52|.1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.4.1.0 = OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.43.45.1.6.10.2.1|.1.3.6.1.4.1.43.45.1.6.10.1.1.7.1.3.8 = INTEGER: 2|.1.3.6.1.4.1.43.45.1.6.10.1.1.7.1.4.8 = INTEGER: 4|.1.3.6.1.4.1.43.45.1.6.10.1.1.7.1.5.8 = INTEGER: 2 END VARIABLEBINDINGS (main::parseTrap) ----8<---------------------- What exactly does "ignoring unknown trap" mean ? Does it mean I screwed up by misconfiguring packetfence ? Or does it mean packetfence does not understand the SNMP trap from the 3Com switch (The S4500 was listed under supported switches)? The 'pfcmd_vlan' command gives me the following info: /usr/local/pf/bin/pfcmd_vlan -getType -switch 10.200.1.3 10.200.1.3, 3Com Switch 4500 50-Port Software Version 3Com OS V3.03.02s168p04, unknown, typeProblem, configuration file tells us ThreeCom::SS4500 Could the "unknown, typeProblem," be related to the "ignoring unknown trap" ? Kind regards, Jasper |
