FRESNEL has an extremely user-friendly interface that makes it easy to learn, and is aimed at scientists and engineers, lecturers in laser optics, and students.

The FRESNEL project was started in 1991 based on Windows 3.1, Borland C++ 3.0, and OWL 1.0. It has since migrated to OWLNext. Nearly all the OWL classes are used to implement the user interface. The Document/View model is heavily used to implement the complex hierarchy of models. The TThread class is used to implement the interactive simulation. FRESNEL now runs in Windows 7, and a 64-bit version is planned.

Lima VVA

Lima VVA, now free software here at SourceForge, is a lightweight Windows application for road design and earthwork calculation. It is suitable for small to medium projects, where ease-of-use, low cost and quick results are paramount. It lets the user design the road interactively, while the geometry and earthwork quantities are automatically calculated in the background. By manipulating the construction parameters, other earthworks, such as ditches, embankments, land fills, building sites — in short, anything suitable for the cross-section method — can be calculated. The program produces high quality drawings, reports, and construction data for the design. These results can be exported to other systems such as office, CAD and GIS software, surveying equipment, and systems for automated machine control.

Development on Lima VVA started in 1994 using Borland C++ with the OWL framework. Around 2000 it migrated to Microsoft Visual Studio and OWLNext, and is currently (as of 2023) based on C++20 and Owlet, an experimental minimal branch of OWLNext.

NPXLab Suite

The NPXLab Suite is a set of tools for the analysis of neurophysiological data (NPX stands for "Neuro Physiological data in XML"), and has been marketed by an Italian company all over the world. Some years ago, a commercial agreement allowed NPX to be released as free tools based on the same source code with some restrictions (removal of database integration and realtime data acquisition). The result is the NPXLab Suite.

The development of NPX started in the 16-bit era, before Windows 95 was released, using Borland C++ and OWL 2. Since then it has been in continuous development, going through transitions to OWL 2.5, OWL 5 and finally OWLNext. The source still relies in part on the VCL library, but the remaining dependencies are going to be completely removed in favour of OWLNext.
