I am having the same problem with contacts not synchronizing from last 24 hours. I am running version 4.1.0.0 .
    Appreciate a fix - thanks.

We are all having the same problem. Google changed their API and this app doesn't support the new method.
No one seems to be answering these tickets so I suspect we all need to find a new way to sych our systems.

    Same issue.

as mentioned in other tickets. will be worked on but is more work to change the api as expected. and since our main focus is caldav/carddav and no proprietary apis it will take some time.

It can't be that all users are left hanging with their contact synchronization.
The api change from Contacts to People has been known for years !!!

OCDS is an free and open source software and we can just work in our leisure time on it.
The effort for adapting to the new People-API is big, so it will take some time.

Excuse my naivete, but is there any danger of loss of Outlook data as the changes to Contacts are made but where these Contacts do not synchronize? I.e., will CalDav remember the changes made and update when the sync is fixed?

Also, is there a quick interim fix (even though it may not be a full fix) while the bigger People-API interface fix is worked upon?

Appreciate this is a free open source software and your efforts are well appreciated! Thanks.

    No, Outlook changes are retained.
No, there will be no interim solution.

  • Gerhard Zehetbauer

You can turn of the Google ContactAPI and use CardDAV instead.
Google's CardDAV is slower and is lacking some features, but you can try it out maybe it works for you.
    Just uncheck the highlighted Setting

Thanks for your suggestion. I unchecked the Google ContactAPI and tried to do a sync. Received the attached error

One more waiting politely for this feature to be usable again. Thank you for creating and maintaining this software!

Looking forward to the next version which fixes the sync errors. I have almost 10,000 contacts with lots of data in Notes fields so hope the versatility of the sync remains intact with no limitations on field size etc. Appreciate the good work you are doing; people across the world are depending on you!

    Dear Gerhard and Lehmann,
Any guidance on when a fix may become available for the contact sync? Changes made are piling up and my phone contact is out of date. Appreciate if a fix is coming soon. Thanks

  • Benjamin Wesley Thomas

Please guidance on how to make this work!

    I had the same problem.

    as Gerhard said

    you have to
    uncheck "use Google native API"
    and
    Important
use this URL and replace username@gmail.com with your gmail address and NOT your alternative mail address!!!

No, there is no fix that works except trying manually to sync for a few times, it will work about 3/10 times, that's how google decided to worsen it progressively until a final shutdown

All other legacy methods mentioned here will not work, even if like me, you had a previous "legacy apps password". Note that new users can no longer even get this legacy password, only old users who already activated it in the past

Franck Harry, this fix is to use the Google CardDAV instead of the Google Contacts API. Its the API that has been shut down. The Google CardDAV contuinues to work fine syncronizing with my Outlook..
I've been running it for 3 days on 2 PC's and no errors.
There initially was an error if you pressed the TEST button. But just ignore that and synch.

Wired, yesterday it got me a 700 I think error code, but today it worked. I in fact get now an error 400 Bad Request in Test, but it properly works in sync

I just did it like yesterday and like my old vcard way:
          - create a new "Generic Caldav/Carddav" profile
          - google url for carddav
          - login:email address
          - pass: application password
          - group maps: vCard with KIND

Today it works, thank you for the confirmation that decided me to test again
However, please note, this cannot be done if someone did not have a previous app password, because it is no more possible to create such login methods in Google accounts. Current app passwords are preserved while they are used actively
