It seems that if the caps lock key is on the local keyboard (the one
running OSXvnc), that it effects remote sessions - sometimes.

I found my self having to go to the OSXvnc server machine and
turning off the caps lock key when it accidently gets turned on.
Otherwise I can not type any lowercase characters. Turning caps
lock off on the server machine always fixes it.

Local machine cap lock verses the affect.

I experience the same symptoms with Caps Lock on local keyboard.

However caps lock on the remote machine doesn't affect
OSXVnc on the remote machine, that is, the characters
continue to be typed as lowercase.

This seems to be independent of vnc viewer; i've tried both
realVnc and tightVnc. Currently I'm on realVnc 4.1.2.
Also independent of OSX version, I've tried 10.4 and 10.3.

    Viewer: RealVnc 4.1.2, under Windows 2000 SP4
    Server: OSXVnc 1.7.1
    OSX: 10.4.8

heheh, ok so some of you might have thought that we stop trying on 18 month old bugs -- but never!

The forthcoming release of Vine Server will finally solve this problem.

    It's 2010 and this still isn't fixed in version 3.0 (1016)
