The first beta of OpenSoundWorld (OSW) version 1.1 has been released to = public and is available for download at http://osw.sourceforge.net. = This new version contains several new features and improvements, = including: 1) Over 250 transforms are now included in the OSW distribution (and = yes, the Windows binary includes the Sampler transforms this time). 2) A full implementation of the OpenSound Control (OSC) protocol, = allowing real-time communication with several popular music = applications, such as Max/MSP, jMax, Pd, Reaktor, etc. For more = information on OSC, please visit http://www.cnmat.berkeley.edu/OSC. 3) oswbin, a "command-line only" mode of OSW, is now available. Oswbin = allows remote control via OSC messages instead of the built-in user = interface. Thanks goes to Andrew Schmeder for his major contributions = to OSC interface and command-line mode. 4) Native support for the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA). = Legacy support for Linux OSS drivers is still included as well. 5) Improved MIDI support under Windows and Linux, including = System-Exclusive output for advanced control of external synths. 6) Easier installation via a Windows self-executing installer and RPMs = for Linux. 7) Numerous bug-fixes and improvements to the user interface and = documentation. 8) Experimental support for Mac OS X. There is no Mac binary release = yet, but intrepid Mac users are encouraged to download the source. OSW is a graphical programming environment for real-time music and audio = applications.
