Yes... Hence, it seems that vm86_callBIOS() is working... ;-)

Ok... There is some problem when the BIOS is used for accessing the
floppy... I'll have a look at the sources tonight, to see if these
information can help in finding the bug. Meanwhile, you can try to
enable the debugging.

Yes... You are simply using the wrong x.exe version ;-)
Try the latest one from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/oslib
(it should be 5.2). Someone reported that the 5.2 x.exe binary give
problems... If you have problems with it, try 5.1.
