All: This is my report to the team on researching standards what we may be able to leverage to describe aspects of the bricks ontology related to the naming of manufacturers, products, etc. in the same way we'd like to leverage standardization of names from dublin core. I've identified a number of standards that the team can evaluate, but also suggest there should be more consideration before we make a choice based on either a) voluntary consensus standards defined by standards bodies; b) voluntary consensus standards defined by industry consortiums (rosettanet,ITIL, Cobit); c) the standard product for asset management selected in the bricks, which I believe is CA Unicenter; and d) standards defined within GSA's OGP and FAS for the support of its software asset management and smartbuy programs. In order to make this choice, I suggest the resource defining the use cases engage the ITAPC to validate the selection criteria and recommend the standard, if any, to Irene. Unfortunately, none of these looked really promising, but I think we need to resolve this issue in the short term, to save in the long term.
