On completely different twist on open source...who controls the
listserves? We have an “OSCAR bc users list” an MOA users list,
development users list, advanced users list....
Being transparent, I will admit that I get the choice over the MOA list as
to bad posts (aka spam and junk mail) and can stop spammers from delivering
“ news” in the MOA channel. Most of you didn’t know that in 2005 when we
created the lists we chose administrators, and I was picked to be one for
the MOA list.
To the best of my knowledge we chose true open source ( and the meaning may
have evolved or developed depending on who you are and your mindset) folks
to choose who is posting.
Is it time to rethink who administers the lists? Some of us who are the
administrators of the lists have less time, or perhaps less concern; while
some are still involved and want to encourage open forum.
Without an active OSCAR CANADA Users Society, this is another point of
discussion.
Likely some voices are not being heard.
