Hi OSCAR users,
Please, I need some help with OSCAR. Sorry to bother you with my newby questions, but I have read and I have try a lot before posting my awfull english here.
I'm trying to install OSCAR 6.0.6 on a fresh debian 5 x86_64.
I am following install guide at
http://svn.oscar.openclustergroup.org/trac/oscar/wiki/
System-sanity reports ERROR network related as described in detail later..(Impossible get the IP)
The Debian fresh install is the very basic (No NFS, No servers, nothing...)
I followed (many times) the OSCAR instructions but latter I found that it was better if the following libraries are installed manually first:
-libapp-config-perl
-libio-pty-perl
-createrepo
otherwise, oscar-bootstraping stop idefinitely.
oscar-config --bootstrap reports success, but I have some questions:
1) I realize now that (contrary as instructed) I have used the following repo:
deb http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/debian-5-x86_64/ lenny /
instead of the one sugested in 6.0.6 installation document, section 3.3.3 Debian-5-x86_64 Based Systems
deb http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/debian-5-x86_64/ etch /
Do I need to stick to the instruction and go back to etch? I do not remember why I have change this...
If it is so, and I need to go back to etch, do I need a fresh debian install or may I just change sources.list and try again?.
Is oscar-config --startover applicable for this scenario?
2)I got the following error while oscar-config bootstraping. Is there something wrong with my networking?
dnsdomainname: Unknown host
----------------------------------------------
ERROR: Impossible get the IP for the hostname (mfierro)
----------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------
WARNING: oscar_server is not defined in /etc/hosts.
This may be normal if this is the first time you
execute OSCAR.

what is wrong with my networking?
Attached are logs and files

and later bootstrap repeat a line like this:
List of repos: http://bison.csm.ornl.gov/repos/debian-5-x86_64/+lenny+/, http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/+lenny+main
hostname: Unknown host
which hostname it is talking about? Is this important at this stage to get it righ?

4) and a last one,
I have seen that the oscar_wizard (step 3) do not show any MPI packages.
Also I have read (Guide 1.1 Overview))that the OSCAR-6.0.x version is not suitable for production... and there are not all the normally supported capabilities.
That means that OSCAR version 6.0x, do not install MPI at all?
===================
Thank you very much for you help.
Luis
sources.list, /etc/hosts, bootstrap.log, sanity mess.
