The lossless PNG image reduction code (opngreduc) is now available as a top-level module. Making your PNG encoder more efficient is as easy as an #include "opngreduc.h" and a call to opng_reduce_image().

The principle behind image reductions is explained in detailed in the PNG optimization guide, section 2.1 "The PNG image type".

As version 0.7 was being developed and is nearing public release, many of the fixes have been back-ported to the 0.6 line. OptiPNG 0.6.5 is mostly a fix-only, recommended release. Details are available in the HISTORY document.
