Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed >Resolution: Wont Fix Priority: 8 Private: No Submitted By: Shubha Nagaraja Rao (snr1310) Assigned to: Maynard Johnson (maynardj) Summary: Disabling kernel/userspace samples in OProfile does not work Initial Comment: Using the domain control bits provided by opcontrol, disabling kernel/user space samples in OProfile does not work and samples in both domains are always collected. If kernel space is disabled, the kernel samples are still collected and attributed to --no-vmlinux in the report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Maynard Johnson (maynardj) Date: 2012-07-05 10:27 Message: The next release of OProfile will include the "operf" program which uses the Linux Kernel Performance Events Subsystem (aka "perf_events") for controlling profiling instead of the oprofile kernel driver. Since using operf will be the recommended method of profiling (versus the opcontrol-based method), and since no one in the oprofile community has been concerned enough about this bug to submit a fix, I am closing this as "Wont Fix". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=116191&aid=3324665&group_id=16191 |
