Hi, I have a SL-C860. I haven't used it for years but it still works! Anyone else still have a Zaurus? *----** Teschi* www.teschi.me.uk |

Hello ! I have a working installation of Openzaurus for Sharp Collie 5500, and i would like to assemble a mirror of Openzaurus packages. If someone still has access to the original archive, and would like to share its access, I would really appreciate it. My server is on a fast bandwidth and I would make the archive available also for other persons, which would still like to download the packages from it. Kind regards, Jan |

Moin, I love to use my Zaurus 5500 with opie and openzaurus. My girl friend loves her DS (with installed linux). Well, we are looking for a common calendar that we can sync with the Desktop. So I thought it would be a good thing if opie/openzaurus is available for the DS. Are there any plans? Hi, I tried to install Angstrom on a Zaurus 5500 following the HOWTO found here [1]. The files I dowloaded from [2]. After flashing the Zaurus I boot the device, I can see the Angstrom splash screen but the boot process stop when the process bar achieve 50 percent. How can I install the Angstrom distribution? I used before OpenZaurus 3.5.3. regards Frank [1] http://www.purple.dropbear.id.au/angstrom_pre_release_on_collie_sl-5500_with_sd_card [2] http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/collie -- Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. Moin, I want to connect my Zaurus via USB to a server (well, I call it 'server'. It's just a Linux box running 24/7). Hi, Recently, after successfully configuring my wireless card in openzaurus, I did an ipkg update; ipkg-upgrade. When everything was upgraded, and after rebooting, I noticed that the openzaurus had downloaded new kernel modules (2.6.23, while the previous onw was the 2.6.22), so nothing really worked now. After some researching, I found that I had to reflash the zaurus with the new kernel, which I did, only to find that the graphical user interface and the wireless card are no longer working. Am I supposed to not do an ipkg upgrade? The new kernel is ok and the modules load, but now the graphical mode does not start and the wireless card gives lots of errors. Any help greatly appreciated. Best. Nacho. |

Speaking from experience, you need to be careful with SD cards. They're OK if there is not a lot of I/O, but they degrade with use. I had a lot of trouble until I got a larger CF card and put everything on that. YMMV - that's just my experience. Hi Tim, thanks for answering, I finally managed to solve it. As we supposed, it was a problem with the partitioning of the SD card. I imagined it when I thought that the SD card had two partitions (one for the software and drivers) by default, and that I had formatted it with just one partition. The issue is that the updater.sh looks for the files in the /dev/sdb2 partition by default, or whatever it is called in the zaurus (/dev/sdb2 in my Linux PC). Thanks anyway, now I have my openzaurus back! Put the files on there and try again if you have. I have seen this problem here - where the Sharp updater kernel can not see some SD cards. I think there are two problems: 1 - cards bigger than 1GB (but this isn't effecting you). 2 - something to do with the partition table/formating of the card. Thanks, Tim |

Hi all: I'm new to the list, so please excuse me if this question has been asked (and solved) before :). Recently I decided to jump to OpenZaurus. I have a SL-C3100. I installed angstrom following the instructions from http://wiki.openzaurus.org/Spitz/Install and using the toolkit Angstrom-x11-pimlico-image-glibc-ipk-2007.9-test-20071017-spitz-installkit.tgz. Everything worked well. Nevertheless, after making a ipkg update and ipkg upgrade I ran out of free space disk (I haven't installed dosfstools so I only had hda1 and hda2 partitions), so I decided to start the instalation again giving more space to this two partitions. However, I don't know what happened. I fdisked again and when I put the SD card (512M) containing the Angstrom files and select 4 -> SD -> Y, I get an error message something like: --- ... Updater ... --- SD Card Not Found!!! And the system reboots. I don't know how to recover a running Angstrom in my Zaurus, and I am a bit worried I won't be able to set it up again, can somebody please help? Thanks a lot in advance. |

Hello Folks, I am running OZ GPE 3.5.4.1 and I am generally very happy with it. However I just bought an AmbiCom BT2000E bluetooth CF card with the aim of getting it to work with my phone. I'm not a Linux newbie but I'm afraid I'm not sure where to start and I has hoping that somebody could give me a few pointers getting started. cardctl ident reports the card correctly. I believe I have installed the correct bluez packages (blues-utils-dbus*) and I have restarted the bluetooth service after inserting the card. However, when I run hcitool dev there don't appear to be any devices. So anyway, if somebody could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. James |

OK, we decided to move from OpenZaurus to =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m. But we have f= ew things=20 to do: 1. Checking OpenZaurus bugs does they appear in =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m and corr= ect them=20 in bugtracker. It is in progress - Rolf 'laibsch' Leggewie maintain that part. 2. Moving content of OpenZaurus Wiki into =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m wiki. This is not yet started. Scott Bronson and Simon 'lardman' Pickering are=20 OZ documentation maintainers and want to make that move. =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m= website=20 is nearly empty now so we probably will need help to get it filled with=20 informations, news etc. Now it use Drupal and we probably prefer to stay=20 with it as LinuxToGo want to limit amount of MySQL databases to absolute=20 minimum. Would be nice to get some people which will work on website. We will not=20 run any www forums and most of core devels does not like OESF forums. 3. Moving developers from OpenZaurus to =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m. It maybe sounds bad (developers like "items") but I want people to start=20 checking images, subscribe to =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m mailing lists. =46ew more things will come soon. If you have anything to add - please=20 write. I am posting to those 3 mailing list because many people does not=20 yet subscribed =C3=85ngstr=C3=B6m ones. =2D-=20 JID: hrw-jabber.org OpenEmbedded developer/consultant Don't panic. Again, you misunderstand me. Of course your explanation for why there isn't more stable code currently available is correct. Once again however this fact will have little impact on much user feedback. As soon as you make a widespread release of desired code which is in this state you will get such feedback. > Go buy Windows Mobile device if you want more or less tested release. My comments are meant to make no assertions over how these projects are being developed or should be; they purely relate to some developers repeated expressions of frustration & possibly anger with user behaviour which is inevitable. FWIW I would give the directions Koen gave, but without the quite clear expression of anger & frustration as that component achieves nothing, again IMO. -- Michael m r o z a t u k g a t e w a y d o t n e t |

A small hint. Users /might/ stop complaining about unstable images when there's an alternative that isn't unstable. Opinions regarding their moral rectitude are irrelevant as far as their continued behaviour goes; that's life. If one still wishes to try to encourage certain more helpful behaviours: 1) first learn how to deal with people. 2) If one can't or won't, recognise ones own limits & delegate. 3) If there is no one else, just be quiet. That's probably preferable to failing to achieve ones aims & coming over as a little Hitler. It's no wonder the author feels tired. It appears that Berlios is having NFS issues. I'll move it to linuxtogo but I won't have time for many days... Use the read-only mirror on http://ozwiki.u32.net until then. Sorry!
