I would suggest writing the series of commands into a batch file with a "pause" on the end of it, then running it from one of the clients to watch for failures.

Now then, why do you use net stop/start dnscache?

easiest way to do that in windows is just to run an "ipconfig /flushdns"

But still, run it from a batch file with a "pause" on the end to get more debugging information than OVPN is recording.

Failing that, turn up the verbosity on your logging.

I haven't failed! I've only found 10,000 ways that don't work.

I'm trying to invoke the following --up script, as part of my OpenVPN server configuration, under Windows XP Pro SP3.

script-security 2                        ; required for 'up' command 
up "up.cmd"                              ; force TAP promiscuous, if necessary, and flush dnscache. 

...
where ..\openvpn\config\up.cmd contains: 

        netsh bridge show adapter 
rem     netsh bridge set adapter 1 forcecompatmode=enable 
rem     netsh bridge show adapter 
        net stop dnscache 
        net start dnscache 
        exit /B 0 
Unfortunately, this isn't working...I'm getting the following in my logs:
