Okay, first off, thanks for the help those of you that answered my last post w/ OpenVPN and generating the certificates under Vista (long story short...u can't...)...I ended up installing XP into a virtual machine and then generating the certificates! Now, I have both of my DD-WRT routers connected via VPN, and I can ping hosts behind each router. The problem is that my desktop which is connected to my router in Los Angeles is GETTING ip addresses outside the DHCP range (192.168.2.2-51) specified by the router in Los Angeles. Instead, it's getting an ip addrss from the DHCP range specified by the other router in New York (192.168.2.102-151). FURTHERMORE, it's also got a default gateway set to that of the New York router instead of the router that it's directly connected to! Seems like it's getting an DHCP assignment from the router in New York. Anyway, when I go to whatismyip.com, it shows that my IP of my desktop is from New York instead of where it is physically (Los Angeles). Any way to modify the route tables (I'm a noob at this, but I can follow directions, so long as they are clear! :-)) so that the right hosts get assigned to the right default router. OR, is there a way to have it so only hosts plugged in directly to the router use THAT router as the gateway (and NOT the paired sister router that is in a remote city)? All of my traffic is going through New York and degrading the connection. I want all NON-private VPN subnet data to go out directly to the internet through the router to which the client is directly attached. |
