Plus, of course, for remote administration, road warriors etc. The only potentially interesting characteristic in our case is that this all works well over patently unreliable links (consumer ADSL in Greece isn't exactly the world's finest). Plus, any alternative suggested by local telecom companies/ISPs would cost way more and result in a more complex network architecture.
