The keypad doesn't work at all on UT (402B). I'm using RedHat 6.1, with no modifications to X or the mod-map (standard US 101-key or 104-key board selected). The keypad works fine in all other applications, X or otherwise.
I had the same problem, to get the keypad working I had to disable the X Keyboard extenstions.
This can be done by adding :
XBKBisable
To the XF86config file (in /etc) but it will probably break some X applications which are called netscape ;) (backspace wil be broken)
