You can join our developer list at: http://sourceforge.net/mail/?group_id=6259 In this place you can find many tips and tricks... The roles in OpenUSS is actually almost the same as in the SourceForge.net Here are the roles in OpenUSS: 1) Administrator. The admin is only responsible for the installation of OpenUSS. In the next version of OpenUSS he or she should have a user interface to do some works as follows: Accepting a new organizations "faculties", Suspending organizations, etc. Until this version 1.2 Final we haven't got any time to implement this user interface. So each faculty will be automatically accepted if you don't "remove" the "application for the faculties". To suspend the faculties you need to directly access the database. --> In SourceForge this is known as the "SourceForge.net provider". 2) Organizations or "Faculties". They have their own workspace. Each organization can apply for the workspace by clicking "application for the faculties". --> In SourceForge this is known as the "Project". 3) Lecturers. The first lecturer, who applies for the faculty, will be the administrator of this faculty. The faculty administrator can give access to some other lecturers and workers of the faculty. The one and only difference between the faculty administrator and the other lecturers is that he or she can remove other lecturers from the faculty. --> In SourceForge this is known as the "Project Administrator" and "Project Members". 4) Students. All students can apply for a login and have directly access to the "open" lectures. For the "closed" lectures he or she has to apply first. In the latter case one of the lecturers have to explicitly give them an access to the lectures. --> No comparison in SourceForge. Or maybe just persons, who are just looking around to some projects, make some downloads, write some news in the discussion forums, etc. --- You can install OpenUSS 2.0, please see this link: http://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?release_id=269301&group_id=6259 Check out OpenUSS 2.0 from CVS and compile it, also see this info: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1350784&forum_id=19345 You can directly ask us in the developer mailinglist above if you have some problems in installing OpenUSS 2.0.
