during the setup you can choose which profile to use. by default the script does not change the database.
remove the config.inc.php and repeat the setup. when on the database setup screen choose restricted mode which is what most people do. otherwhise look at the INSTALL file which explains a manual install.

I have manually created the database because i had errors with access denied for my username. So I created it, but I don't know how to populate it. I have chosen Restricted Mode, but without effect.

this usually means that the database was not populated correctly. Please rerun the setup choosing the appropriate configuration, or check that the database creation script runs correctly.
