Some time ago I happened upon some odd drag&drop
behaviour when dragging attachments from BeMail. There
I was advised to post the bug here at OpenTracker.

The original entry is located at
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=388726&aid=750465&group_id=26926

It says:
I love drag&drop!
Recently I got several mails with attachments that I
wanted to save to a single folder. This works nicely by
drag&drop. Now the small and peculiar bug:
If you drop the attachment into the white empty space
of the folder's window everything is OK. If OTOH you
drop it onto an existing file (because the window is
"filling up" with files) the file isn't copied.

I have the cvs-current OpenTracker installed, which
does not exhibit this behaviour when I tested to
drag&drop between two regular Tracker windows.

It isn't so strange if you think about it.
When you drop something on a file, it's because you want the
dropped thing to be opened by the file (i.e. you drop a text
    file on the stylededit executable).

I missed your reply somehow, JB.
And you missed my last paragraph :) :

"I have the cvs-current OpenTracker installed, which
does not exhibit this behaviour when I tested to
drag&drop between two regular Tracker windows."

When you point to an existing file, the Tracker is interpreting
that you want to use that file to open the object you are
dragging. If the file is a text editor/viewer and the object you
are dragging is a text file, you should get the result of the
    program opening the file.

What you need to do is avoid dropping files on top of files.

Sorry for any possible misunderstandings or errors on my part.

    I know that, Jace. :)
I'm talking about dropping e.g. JPGs on JPGs, not on an
executable like a viewer or editor. Furthermore, as I said,
this behaviour is not shown when d&d a document from one
Tracker window onto another document in another Tracker window.
That's why I first thought that it's a BeMail issue.

Thanks anyway for taking the time to answer.
This bug/feature/whatever is BTW not a big issue for me.
Just a peculiar phenomenon I deemed worth reporting.
