-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 libwbxml 0.10.8 release notes Download:https://sourceforge.net/projects/libwbxml/files/libwbxml/0.10.8/ Minor Changes ============= - Added a fix for the broken vFormat handling in the SyncML specification. All LFs are replaced by CRLFs in every vFormat object inside a SyncML message (ticket #38). - Added Nokia ConML support (ticket #35). There is no public documentation available from Nokia. The transformation tables were created from sniffed WBXML documents. The patch was supplied by Anton D. Kachalov. Internal Changes ================ - Removed OMA DM tests because the OMA did not grant a permission for the inclusion (ticket #36). Special thanks goes to Anton D. Kachalov who added the Nokia ConML support. It's good that 0.22 users post here, so that people realize that 0.22 is still needed. But to be honest, there is little possibility that timezone support will be improved in 0.22. > Unfortunately, this is the only version available for my system. I'm not sure if that would be easier than compiling from tarball or not. - Chris |

Hello Chris, thanks for your answer. Now I know that there are still some souls around who read this list. It has become very quiet, I was beginning to worry if it was still active. You wrote: > I don't know the answer to your specific query, but I do recall that > timezone support is weak... if not in the library itself, then sometimes > in the plugins. I hope they fix it very fast, because now that KPilot has become abandoned and unsupported, all of us "old-fashioned" Palm users need OpenSync really badly. Right now, I am feeling like back in the stone age again: I have to synchronize my Palm and my Linux desktop by hand, because right now there is *no* synching software that works faultless, without messing up my calendars. I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating this is. And it gets even more frustrating every time Windows users look at you with this kind of pity in their faces... > > Especially in 0.22. > Unfortunately, this is the only version available for my system. I tried to compile version 0.39 but I failed. :-( It seems to me, compiling OpenSync is much more complicated than compiling a Linux kernel. The scripts that should do the trick are very old and they don't work on my system (KUbuntu 9.10). I am not very much into developing software, so I can't really tell why they don't work. I guess it must be some dependencies that don't match, but how do you solve dependencies for a script of that age? If anyone has a working script, that downloads and compiles OpenSync on (K)Ubuntu9.10 or if anyone even has a working package (.deb) for this system, I would very much appreciate a copy of it. Hi Wolfgang, I don't know the answer to your specific query, but I do recall that timezone support is weak... if not in the library itself, then sometimes in the plugins. Hi there, using OpenSync 0.22, does it allow to confirm the synchronization of each and every record? I am still trying to make my Palm and my KDE Desktop / Mozilla Lightning work together. I had some success in setting up opensync to sync kde-pim and my Palm, but still I encounter some serious problems, one of which is concerning timezone info: each time I sync, the timezone ID is deleted from the local vcal file. When I enter a new event, there is a timezone info included: BEGIN:VEVENT ... DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Berlin:20100402T173000Z DTEND;TZID=Europe/Berlin:20100402T210000Z END:VEVENT After synchronizing, the same event will look like this: BEGIN:VEVENT ... DTSTART:20100402T173000Z DTEND:20100402T210000Z END:VEVENT The timezone info has been deleted and this event will be shifted one hour. Strangely, this does not happen to every event in calendar: only repeating events are affected when they cross the days when daylight saving time starts or ends. Has any one else noticed this? Is this a know problem? If so: is there a patch available and will this be fixed in the next release? Wolfgang Klein |

Hello, I am now able to sync my Nokia N97 with Korganizier, yeeaahhhh :-) I use these plugins: syncml-obex and file-sync. When I issue "msynctool --sync N97 everyhting is fine, but, after many seconds, the command does not come to an end... I pressed ctrl-c to end it. Why did it not end? Below you can see the full output until I pressed ctrl-c. Of course I now have a lock file left in ~/.opensync.... First I had to enable "Contacts" in the sync profile on the phone and second this seems to be case sensitive, thus the right command has to be syncml-obex-client -u 0 --slow-sync text/x-vcard Contacts --wbxml --identifier "PC Suite" "Contacts" with a big C. Hi, ...I tried to sync my NOkia E52 using mysnctool (file-sync and syncml-obex). No success :( (I tried both, opensync 0.22 and 0.39). 0.22 worked at least for my E50, which I had before. Before I start digging deeper - is there anybody out there successfully syncing a E52 (obex/http) - opensync 0.22 or 0.39 - doesn't matter... Thanks, Andy |

Hello! I am looking for a list of valid options to use in the conf files, especially palm-sync.conf. I searched the project's homepage, but sadly I haven't found any such list. The thing I need to know most urgently is how to put the command line option "--conflict n" into a conf file, because without this options my calenders will not be synchronized at all. I haven't tested that yet but because the N900 uses eds as storage backend for e.g. contacts it should already be possible to use the evo-sync plugin. I did take a look at the N900 api some days ago and it should be possible to use the eds api directly without the libosso-abook wrapper. If you are going to try it please send some feedback to the list. regards Bjoern 2010/2/24 Marc Deop i Argemí <dam...@gm...> > On Sunday 07 February 2010 21:58:48 Bjoern Ricks wrote: > > I guess it depends more on the OpenSync team because to most KDE > > developers aren't satisfied with opensync. Hello, I am trying to set up Opensync to synchronize my Palm and multiple calender files. I can synchronize my Palm and Lightning calendar, but there are two things I haven't been able to realize: Looking at the howto and the manual, it should be possible to merge multiple calenders into one while synchronizing. So, if I set up the sunbird-sync.conf like this: <config> <file deletedaysold="14" path="/path/to/mycalender.ics" /> <webdav url="http://www.somewhere.org/remotecalender.ics" /> </config> it should read entries from both files and put them onto my Palm. But if I try this, only mycalender.ics is synchronized to my Palm. What is the reason for this? Is it, because I don't have write access to the remote calendar, or did I misunderstand the whole thing completely? The second little problem I'm facing is concerning the socket address: if I try to use an actual device file for accessing the Palm, Opensync doesn't work. I have to use either "net:" or "usb:" in order to synch the PDA: <sockaddr>usb:</sockaddr> But I would like to use something like <sockaddr>/dev/ttyUSB1</sockaddr> because I have two PDAs that need to be synchronized independently. Can anyone help me with these two little problems, please? Thanks in advance. First of all, I see that the pace of development has quickened, going by the timeline: http://www.opensync.org/timeline So, congratulations on resuming regular development! I have seen the Device Compatibility List but I understand it to be outdated, refer to an old branch (0.2x) and unmaintained. Therefore I ask: My mobile provider is giving me the oportunity to upgrade to one of the following devices: Nokia n85 Nokia n97 Sony-Erickson w995 I need to sync contacts and calendar with the KDE-PIM suite (KDE 4.4 soon, with the new Kaddressbook and Akonadi). The language is not ascii based, so it will need to support unicode characters. Which device is preferable for syncing? I can wait a few weeks for the 0.4x branch to stabilize, but I must know which device is preferable. Thanks. An aside: if anybody here owns the N85 or N97 I would like to ask some questions about the phone off-list. Please contact me off-list if I can bother you with some questions. Thanks. -- Dotan Cohen http://what-is-what.com http://gibberish.co.il Please CC me if you want to be sure that I read your message. I do not read all list mail. |

Hi! I am desperately trying to connect my synchronize my Samsung B2100 using OpenSync. I am using the "standard" packages of karmic and added the multisync .92 GUI and the needed plugins... I followed these instructions: http://www.opensync.org/wiki/peers/samsung/sghd600 And also tried out other specifications in the configuration file (channels, identifiers and names for contacts etc.). For any channel (e.g. dial-up network, OBEX File Transfer) except for channel 6 (Object Push) I get the following answer from the msynctool: Synchronizing group "test" Member 1 of type file-sync just connected Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while connecting: Bluetooth connect error Member 1 of type file-sync just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync failed: Unable to connect one of the members Error while synchronizing: Unable to connect one of the members For channel 6 I get a different error message: Synchronizing group "test" Member 1 of type file-sync just connected Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while connecting: Link Error: 0x0 Member 1 of type file-sync just disconnected All clients have disconnected The sync failed: Unable to connect one of the members Error while synchronizing: Unable to connect one of the members So I guess this might be the right channel, but other things are going wrong now..? I describe the SyncEvolution approach as "from the ground up": start with something that can be solved, do it well and release, then continue with the next problem. I started with a SyncML client for EDS. Mac OS X Address Book was added later. A backend for XMLRPC and the Maemo calendar API were written by contributors. As of this weekend, there's also a rudimentary Akonadi backend. For 1.0, we add SyncML server support. Non-SyncML protocols might come once that works. I think the way towards non-SyncML protocols like PBAP is to wrap them in a backend and talk to the central server via SyncML as the SyncEvolution-internal protocol. > If I understood Patrick correctly SyncEvolution isn't able to > sync with different backends at the same time (at the moment). Correct. That prevents the "wrap other protocols" approach described above. But this is purely a simplification of the implementation, not a conceptual problem. We'll add it once it becomes necessary. The same applies to out-of-process backends. -- Bye, Patrick Ohly -- Pat...@gm... http://www.estamos.de/ |
