I'm looking at getting a basic cell phone that I can sync the contacts with Linux. I do not want a smartphone for a variety of reasons (I can have a separate discussion about that if you'd like). My understanding is that opensync is the only real way to do this under Linux, is this correct? What things should I look for in a cell phone that will increase the probability that opensync will work with it? My cell carrier is Verizon. Thanks. -- Jon Schewe | http://mtu.net/~jpschewe If you see an attachment named signature.asc, this is my digital signature. See http://www.gnupg.org for more information. |

Hello Everyone, I have tough time cracking out how the syncml md5 digest is created .... Here is my understanding Lets say Username="Bruce1" Password="OhBehave" and lets say Nonce="Nonce" /* I have taken the example from the Syncml Representation Protocol */ and for the below Format and Type <Format xmlns='syncml:metinf'>b64</Format> <Type xmlns='syncml:metinf'>syncml:auth-md5</Type> This is how the md5 digest is calculated md5(b64(md5(Bruce1:OhBehave)):Nonce) Is this correct ? If Yes then my result is not matching with what is given as below in the http://www.openmobilealliance.org/tech/affiliates/syncml/syncml_represent_v11_20020215.pdf <Cred> <Meta><Type xmlns='syncml:metinf'> syncml:auth-md5</Type></Meta> <Data>Zz6EivR3yeaaENcRN6lpAQ==</Data> <!— Base64 coded MD5 digest, for user “Bruce1”, password “OhBehave”, nonce “Nonce” " --> </Cred> Please help me out ! Calendar and Notes are not. msynctool runs with message "missing node". there seem to be issues with encoding too, as I am using Cyrillic together with Latin. I'm not sure which part of the sync is causing the encoding trouble. I was planning to run msynctool with different locales to see what happens, but there was no time either to test or to do a research. Now it's time for a 2 week vacation. If you manage to improve in your investigations let me know, as N86 seem to be using symbian too just as the 5530 or 5230 phones. I'll continue investigating when I'm back. As you know I'm also interested how it's working with kde4.4 but I've seen opensync is still 0.22. Any information how to sync in kde 4.4 will be appreciated. regards |

I hope as usual with a bit debugging it will be all good at the end. The thing is that kontact (and belonging applications) should not work at sync time and the menu in 5530 does not look like in the manual, but the phone documentation helps you find the item fast. I think the trick was to change server version from 1.2 to 1.1 in the phone. May be this will work also in kde 4.4.5 and of course for other nokia phones too. regards |

Hi, Just to be clear, I'm not a Nokia developer and I don't have a Nokia phone. So I have no solid answers for Nokia syncing. I'm under the impression that using syncml is possible with the Nokia, but I'm not sure. Hopefully someone else will chime in with better info. - Chris On Sat, Jul 24, 2010 at 05:53:34AM -0700, Emanoil Kotsev wrote: > sorry for allowing myself to use this contact directly without explicit permission. sorry for allowing myself to use this contact directly without explicit permission. I hope it's fine for you. My phones I had in the past few years ( sonny err k750i and nokia 6210) including the new nokia 5530 do not sync (properly). I managed to sync the erricson one and the 6210, but the memory slots were incompatible so I had double contacts issues all the time. I don't have time to do coding on it but I found a nice specification of the AT commands http://sw.nokia.com/id/95672052-6c77-488d-a055-acef77e4cdc5/AT_Command_Set_For_Nokia_GSM_And_WCDMA_Products_v1_2_en.pdf based on this link http://www.traud.de/gsm/index.html so basically there is enough information to hack all kind of nokia phones. I'm experienced with programming/compiling and debugging, so if there is a way to push specific development not without a selfish reason to get at least the last one (5530) working it would be great. Which software do I need to try it (it's also interesting to get kde4.4 syncing or at least get it done in the kde4.4 environment in debian now sid) What I need is just a sync between contacts/calendar/todos - dialup from the phone seems easier (as I can use the AT commands to dial up and control the phone), but for the sync part my knowledge is limited. I'm also working on google-calendar, but I wouldn't call it ready yet. You can always give it a try though. According to Henrik, bluezync for mozilla/thunderbird/sunbird should "almost" work too, but I haven't tested it personally yet. Hello, I am attempting to sync my Sony Ericsson w300i phone's calendar with Google calendar. I've got the Google calendar half set up just fine, but I can't seem to get the phone part to connect. When I try to sync, I get this message: "Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client had an error while connecting: There are no valid USB interfaces" I'm using opensync0.22 from the Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) repositories, and attempting to perform the sync with the multisync0.90 GUI via USB. When I run "syncml-ds-tool -u", it returns "Found 0 USB OBEX interfaces Use '-u interface_number' to connect" Interestingly enough, when I do "lsusb -v", I do not see SYNCML anywhere. I DO see "bInterfaceSubClass 11 OBEX". I can post the full output of lsusb if that will be useful. My config file looks like this: <?xml version="1.0"?> <config> <bluetooth_address></bluetooth_address> <bluetooth_channel></bluetooth_channel> <interface>0</interface> <identifier>Sony Ericss</identifier> <version>1</version> <wbxml>1</wbxml> <username></username> <password></password> <type>5</type> <usestringtable>0</usestringtable> <onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace> <onlyLocaltime>0</onlyLocaltime> <recvLimit>0</recvLimit> <maxObjSize>0</maxObjSize> <contact_db>Contacts</contact_db> <calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db> <note_db>Notes</note_db> </config> Thanks in advance for any ideas. |

Dear All, I've been happily and gratefully exploiting opensync for years (and before it, SYnCE). I have three NOKIA phones (6630, E61, 6220 classic). I've been using opensync 0.22 for the last years with some troubles (doubling of entries at each slow sync) but...hey, it's beta! And after all, it is still possible to avoid the problem through some tricks. Recently something broke. Everytime I try to sync my E61 I get a system error on the phone and an infinite loop on multisync (0.90). My OS is Linux Ubuntu 9.10. Please note that everything goes fine with the other phone, the 6220 classic. I suppose because until now, I did not need to perform a full sync with the latter, only fast syncs. But I fear that I might get the same issue next time I need to perform a slow sync for some reason. I was wandering Whether there might be a solution to my problem. I really hate even the idea of reverting to windoze just for this. From my point of view, opensync is one of the most significant projects in the opensource area. Really. I read today that a new version of libwbxml has come. Could this be a fix? Please help Giancarlo --- Ven 28/5/10, ope...@li... <ope...@li...> ha scritto: > Da: ope...@li... <ope...@li...> > Oggetto: Opensync-users Digest, Vol 46, Issue 1 > A: ope...@li... > Data: Venerdì 28 maggio 2010, 11:21 > Send Opensync-users mailing list > submissions to > ope...@li... > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/opensync-users > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' > to > ope...@li... > > You can reach the person managing the list at > ope...@li... > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more > specific > than "Re: Contents of Opensync-users digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Hi, I've tried to use opensync and gammu to synchronize calendar with my Samsung GT-C3060 mobile. Unfortunately I couldn't find the appropriate plugin/protocol. Sniffing the communication with the original communication tool, I have found, that this mobile uses the nonstandard (?) AT commands. For example the Calendar entries may be read with "AT+SSHR" command: (below is the transcript from the minicom session) ATI Samsung GT-C3060 OK AT+SSHR=0 +SSHR:5,"5,test1","0,","0,",2010,5,12,2010,5,12,21,49,22,49,0,0,0,0,2010,5,30 +SSHR:3,"1,x","0,","0,",2010,6,2,2010,6,3,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,2010,5,30 +SSHR:1,"9,event1234","0,","0,",2010,6,7,2010,6,7,7,0,8,59,0,0,0,0,2010,5,30 +SSHR:4,"7,test123","0,","0,",2010,6,14,2010,6,14,21,37,22,37,0,0,0,0,2010,5,30 +SSHR:2,"7,Meeting","0,","0,",2010,6,15,2010,6,15,8,0,8,59,0,0,0,0,2010,5,30 OK What kind of protocol is it? Is it supported by the opensync? -- TIA& Regards, WZab |

I see that OpenSync is still at 0.39, so my question is probably redundant. What desktop software will sync a calendar with my N86 _today_? Should I use Evolution, KDE-PIM, or something else? I am currently a KDE-PIM user, but I will switch if it means that I can sync my calendar. Thanks in advance. -- Dotan Cohen http://gibberish.co.il http://what-is-what.com |

Hi, please always send such requests to ope...@li.... This is the official support list. On 05/25/10 04:42, 양웅 wrote: > > i have some ploblem. You must run cmake in the top level directory. Do not run it directly in the directory src/. 2. If there are functions which are not available under Windows (e.g. index) then please report this to the bug tracker of libwbxml or to the mailing list. Actually there are no open bugs for compile problems. https://libwbxml.opensync.org/report/1 So please use cmake and open a bug if there are compile problems.
