Hi there, I've compiled libsyncml-0.4.5 in order to eventually synchronize a Sony Ericsson G502 using SyncML over HTTP. So, I've run the following jelle@bounce:~$ syncml-http-server --port 8080 --sync text/x-vcard contacts --multi Received an Alert for the DS Server at contacts: Type: 201, Last 0, Next 310 Slowsyncing Just received a new session with ID 4 WARNING: Unable to find command handler (Put: ./devinf12 -> NULL)Session 4 reported final. flushing On the phone I get the message "Session failed. Invalid server response". The configuration on the phone is: - Server address: http://<host>:8080/ - No username, password - I'm synchronizing only the Contacts, for which I've set - database name to "contacts" - no username, password This is the libsyncml configuration: =============================================== Unit Tests: Disabled Tracing: Enabled Tools: Enabled Libwbxml: Enabled Http Client: Enabled Http Server: Enabled Obex Client: Disabled Obex Server: Disabled Bluetooth: Disabled =============================================== I've attached the syncml-http-server log files. |

Dear all, I'm been thinking for a few weeks about pim support in linux. That and how various models for accessing data from devices, online services and local stores. My conclusion is that a syncing process (the idea as it stands in OpenSync) is the wrong approach fundamentally. We're caught up thinking about conduits, getting data from one place to another, converting it between all the weird and wonderful formats out there. But I suggest, there is a different way of thinking about data access. Instead of thinking about transport. First we should have a look at categorical access to the data; what I mean by this is that we have various data categories (addressbook/photo album/music playlist/ect) and that providing a standard api to each of these categories without restricting anything to any specific backend or client, would allow us to add data services on the fly. Much like the way music is handled when you plug in an ipod and libgpod together with hal via dbus tells rythembox or amorock that there is a device that contains music available. The user then accesses and plays the msuic directly fromt he device, or at their option can then sync or copy data between local stores and the device. The same would be said of online services: When you specify your google information, the system should show your calendars in the calendar data services; but only if your online. Since when offline it's logically equiverlent to being unplugged from a device. So, I suggest these services run over dbus and be independent enough to allow even cli tools to be based on them. Once you have data access, automatic syncing, caching and a whole host of other interesting features becomes possible. But until we start thinking more about our data stores and user data services more seriously, I think we'll continue to see the hacks and copies of windows ideas about how this sort of thing should work. Regards, Martin |

Thanks in adv. |

So you think the OpenSync XML data is still correct and when it gets converted within SynCE it might get broken? I could try to ask the SynCE guys if they have an idea then. I just can't judge or prove where it gets wrong in the chain. Thanks, Wolfgang |

It's a subpackage of synce-sync-engine Interesting - synce plugin is not using the iCalendar nor vCalendar - it's using directly the OpenSync XML internal format. Maybe in the conversion code from SynCE-what-ever-format to OpenSync XML internal format there is a conversion issue. But pretty cool implementation - python using XSL conversion stylesheets. Have to dive into this a bit deeper... |

I guess this could be an issue due to conversion from iCalendar to vCalendar which is hopefully only done by OpenSync and the format plugin called "vformat". (In 0.22 this was/is shipped by OpenSync itself) Note: vCalendar doesn't really know about Timezones, at least not the same detailed way as iCalendar does. So we used to see here various problems in the past. Could you give me more detailed information which versions are used so i can have a quick look which formats are used. best regards, Daniel |

Hi, I'm trying to sync my WinCE based device with Sunbird using opensync with the synce and sunbird modules. Unfortunately it doesn't work as expected. When I sync from CE to Sunbird it works correctly and I see that the event is defined in UTC in the ICS file. When I sync from Sunbird to WinCE (what's the main usecase for me) all my events are 2 hours off on the WinCE device. (I'm currently in a UTC+2 timezone). Sunbird creates DTSTART and DTEND times using a timezone definition and my guess is that either opensync or synce need to handle that. I'm not sure if opensync is supposed to do that at all but I have no clue which layer should be responsible. Therefore asking here. Any hints? Thanks, Wolfgang |

Hello, Some questions about the 0.37 release at http://opensync.org/download/releases/0.37/ 1) There is no evolution plugin. Does this suggest that the plugin has not yet been ported to cater for recent API changes, and so users of this release cannot sync with evo? 2) My old configuration did not work with this release. The XML schema has changed, but this is not documented anywhere. I used the schemas from $myInstall/share/libopensync1/schemas to figure things out, but is there any other documentation or examples (e.g. test cases)? 3) What is the functional status of this release - are there any major functional gaps that users should know about? 4) I am trialling 0.37 because I've had no luck with events/todos under 0.36 (Nokia 6300 over obex and evo). I'm currently wondering whether I should just build from 0.40 head, rather than use the 0.37 release [that is missing plugins]. Some comments on the functional status of 0.40 would be helpful to let users make a decision. Thanks for any info. Jason. |

Hello, I've compiled 0.37 from the release tarballs, and am experiencing an assertion failure in file-sync: ERROR:(/home/jas/opensync/build/libopensync-plugin-file-0.37/src/file_sync.c:173):osync_filesync_write: assertion failed: (size == sizeof(OSyncFileFormat)) Config and output are shown below. Not sure whether I am doing something stupid with config, or whether to raise a ticket. Background is that I have been using 0.36 to sync contacts/notes with a Nokia 6300, but want to try 0.37 because I have had no luck with events or todos. In moving to 0.37, I had to learn the config from the schemas, because I cannot find any other information on how to configure the plugins using the new syntax. Hi everyone, I have been using OpenSync with Evolution and my Nokia E70 successfully for some months. It was only doing quick syncs until I started sync when I did not have my phone in Bluetooth range. Now, OpenSync insists on a slow sync, and does not finish with this. My E70 says: Sending Contacts 97 of 97. Here is my Ubuntu bugreport, with an attached log: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multisync0.90/+bug/260817 What can I do to make this working again? I have accumulated unsynced data on both devices, so I cannot just start from scratch. Best regards, Andreas |

Unfortunately I can't really support 0.22 with the Opie plugin - it's quite broken and a lot of fixes have gone into the 0.3x branch. However the 0.3x branch isn't ready for prime-time either. This is a very sad state of affairs, but hopefully we will be able to get a new stable branch out soon. In the mean time please bear with us. Cheers, Paul |

I tried to append the following: About bluetooth and E71: I at least had to choose channel 10 which according to spdtool is SyncML client - using channel 14 (SyncML server) results in the described immediate "Server not responding". With channel 10 syncing over bluetooth seems to work. to http://www.opensync.org/ticket/831, but got: 403 Forbidden (TICKET_APPEND privileges are required to perform this operation) -- http://www.iki.fi/~ananaza/ |

Hello everybody, I'm trying to sync my nokia 2600 classic cellphone with my computer (ubuntu hardy). I followed the doc on the website and succeeded to sync between a "file" and a syncml-obex-client plugins with msynctool (over bluetooth). However, it worked only once. It now hangs after the message > All clients have written That is, the expected messages > Member 2 of type syncml-obex-client just disconnected > All clients have disconnected > The sync was successful were never printed and the phone keeps printing "final stage of the sync" endlessly. How should I troubleshoot this ? I tried a few keywords on the ML archive but wasn't successful. I use opensync as shipped with ubuntu hardy: opensync version 0.22 and libsyncml0 0.4.5. Here is the full log: > $ msynctool --sync file-nokia2600c --conflict 1 > Synchronizing group "file-nokia2600c" > The previous synchronization was unclean. Hello, I have done a bit of searching on this issue but I can only find a few similar issues in which the resolutions do not work for me. I have compiled 0.22 from source along with msynctool 0.22, kdepim-plugin and SynCE. I have placed the python plugin synce-opensync-plugin-2x.py into my /usr/lib/opensync/python-plugins directory but when I run 'msynctool --listplugins' the only thing that is output is the kdepim plugin. Not sure what additional info would be helpful but any assistance would be appreciated! |

Hi Cristian, Sorry for long silence, I've finally figured out the error with tracing turned on: ERROR: Unable to open module /usr/local/lib/libopensync1/plugins/syncml-plugin.so: /usr/local/lib/libopensync1/plugins/syncml-plugin.so: undefined symbol: osync_objtype_sink_num_objformats ERROR: Unable to open module /usr/local/lib/libopensync1/plugins/syncml-plugin.so: /usr/local/lib/libopensync1/plugins/syncml-plugin.so: undefined symbol: osync_objtype_sink_nth_objformat This seems to be similar to http://www.opensync.org/ticket/775, and patch attached solves it - msynctool can see syncml plugins now On Tue, Mar 25, 2008 at 1:52 PM, Christian Hilgers <Chr...@co...> wrote: > Andriy Zhdanov schrieb: >> $ msynctool --listplugins >> Available plugins: >> google-calendar >> $ >> >> Any ideas? > > which msynctool > ldd `which msynctool` > does that match the place you did install the libs? > If not (what I assume) use LD_LIBRAY_PATH to point the linker > to the correct place. > > Christian > -- > Christian Hilgers |ConSol* > Tel. +49.2102.994-423 |Consulting&Solutions Software GmbH > Fax +49.2102.994-411 |Berliner Str. 101, 40880 Ratingen > email: Chr...@co... |WWW: http://www.consol.de > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft > Defy all challenges. Heya all, I'm trying to Sync my Sony Ericsson C702 with Evolution on my Ubuntu (8.04) laptop. I've successfully used a combination of Opensync / Syncml-obex-client (over BT) and multisync 0.90 for the GUI to sync the phone book to Evolution in both directions. Unfortunately however it does not work with Calendar sync enabled. I'm sure this is something to do with the Calendar db name? I have tried both 'Calendar' and 'Agenda' without success. Below is my configuration - if somebody could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated! A solution seems so very close! Is there any way for example I can probe the phone to discover the db name? Thanks, Charlie --: syncml-obex-client configuration <?xml version="1.0"?> <config> <!-- (Only for bluetooth) The bluetooth address if the bluetooth mode is selected --> <bluetooth_address>00:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx</bluetooth_address> <!-- (Only for bluetooth) The bluetooth channel to use. `sdptool browse $MAC` to search for the correct channel --> <bluetooth_channel>11</bluetooth_channel> <!-- (Only for USB) The usb interface number of the SYNCML-SYNC target. use syncml-obex-client -u (you will need access to the USB raw device) to find it. --> <interface>0</interface> <!-- The string that the plugin will use to identify itself. Hi, The vcard in Nokia N95 supports some special SIP fields. I am interested in syncing them with kdeaddressbook. The sip fields in the nokia vcard are: BEGIN:VCARD VERSION:2.1 N:Lastname;Firstname X-SIP;VOIP:83412 X-SIP;VOIP;HOME:22222 X-SIP;VOIP;WORK:111111 X-SIP;SIP:33333 X-CLASS:private END:VCARD I am using kde 4.1.0 addressbook which still uses the old file based resource (as against Akonadi). Is this at all possible? Thanks Rajil |
