Hi, i worked a lot on the syncml plugin and it is now ready to be tested. I updated the syncml guide at http://www.opensync.org/wiki/syncml-guide to show how the libraries and the syncml plugin can be installed. if you already checked out libsyncml from the repository you can use the switch command to switch it to the trunk: svn switch http://svn.opensync.org/libsyncml/trunk . I tested the synchronization against the file-sync plugin and evolution 2.4. There are still some bugs i have to fix though. The syncml plugin supports syncml version 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 and the transport http and obex. The syncml guide also has a section with known configurations which you can use. If the plugin works for your device, please let me know so that i can add the device to the list. Best Regards, Armin Bauer |

I suppose with finishing syncml plugin the list should improve quite a lot. However, at least some IrMC devices should already work (but I don't know, I need libsyncml myself). I guess the problem is that opensync is still in development and a lot of things need to be done and thus not that many people test it yet. We (Armin and I) did a bit of testing and research. First we played with AT commands to the phone, to see if there is a possibility to turn over the "modem-channel" to an obex-session, which is not supported by my phone. The way to go here is to establish a ppp-link between phone and pc and over that connection use the syncml-http-server and fire up the sync-application on the phone (it is a symbian-os based phone). But, could be a lot different with your phone... Cheers, Manuel --=20 ma...@ma... http://www.malteser-berlin.de http://www.matronix.de - http://www.elektronik-kompendium.de/public/borcher= s |

But looking for problems one more time, I noticed that libsoup cvs was now required while patched 2.2.7 was not enough. And this is the information that was missing. With cvs libsoup it compiled ok. Maybe this information should be more apparent on opensync site (also in obex guide) or at least visible in configure output? Hi all, I'd like to test libsyncml-threaded (syncml-obex) with my phone, but I have problems compiling it (error attached). Svn version 97. I have libsoup and libwbxml patched as for the trunk version of libsyncml (it compiled fine when I did some testing few weeks ago, my phone connected to prove it was syncml 1.1), I compiled openobex 1.1 to meet all the requirements. They are all in the same location. However, it seems that something is wrong or, more probably, I'm doing something wrong. (Libsoup seems not be found). So, can you give more detailed information on dependencies? Which libraries and with which patches? Cheers, Rafał Próchniak |

Hi list! I have written a OpenSync plugin for Nokia cellphones based on gnokii. At the moment it only can sync the calendar (object type: event). Support of contacts, todo list and notes will follow soon. There are some (known) problems with gnokii itself with writing specific details of calendar entries. This is known and will be fixed hopefully soon. Please read the "Known Problems/Bug" Section of the README file for more details. It would be great to get some feedback of your experience with gnokii-sync. And which devices/connection types (bluetooth, IR, cable, ...) works with gnokii-sync and which doesn't. For testing it is recommended to use the latest version of gnokii[1]. At least version 0.6.11 of gnokii. But keep in mind that the plugin is quiet experimental and you should make a _whole_BACKUP_ of your CALENDAR, CONTACTS and TODO list! Feel free to ask if you have questions or problems :) You can found me (and many others) in the IRC of #opensync on irc.freenode.org BTW: the plugin can be found in the subversion repository of OpenSync: snv co http://svn.opensync.org/plugins/gnokii-sync [1] http://www.gnokii.org Thanks! Have a nice day :) best regards, Daniel |

Hi, i just updated the syncml-http-server tool as well, so if you have a syncml capable device that can do syncml over http, i would be really interested in the results of the test. I added a small guide to the libsyncml website which explains how to use the tool: http://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/http-guide Remember to run svn up if you checked out libsyncml earlier today. But i was only able to test 1.2 and 1.1 so far (due to lack of a 1.0 phone) so there are probably some errors in there. I will try to update the syncml-http-server tool to the state of the obex-client tool tonight so that you can try to sync your phone then. Armin > > Cheers, > Manuel > |

Hi Armin, nice to see you back on libsyncml and hope your exams went well. My exams are over too, so I took the time to install a new libsoup. You are checking for libsoup 2.2.90 [which is CVS as I found out later] but configure does not bail out if it can't find it and then make fails because of missing libsoup. So, I got around that after installing libsoup from gnome-cvs. After that libsyncml compiled fine and I installed it. Following your guide, I tried to detect my phone then (which is a SE P800), but syncml-obex-client reported no phones found. So, I guess my phone does not support OBEX over USB. My question now: will your libsyncml "rewrite" also support SyncML1.0 with the "old" http-server someday? Or is there no go in syncing this old phone? Hi, finally some news after a long period of programming abstinence: I finished all my exams and can now work on opensync/libsyncml again. :) I already worked on the libsyncml and have something new to show of: I added a new tool to libsyncml called syncml-obex-client. This tool can be used to emulate and test syncml synchronization using obex over usb. So if you own a syncml capable phone and also happen to have a usb cable, i would really appreciate to get some feedback about the devices the tool supports correctly. So, if you are willing to give it a shot, please take a look at http://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/obex-guide which explains in detail what has to be done. The next steps are now to create a opensync plugin which uses the libsyncml to finally get complete syncml synchronization. Best Regards, Armin Bauer |

Please take a look if you have the > package "libtool" installed. YES - THANKS - THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. Question: Did I oversee some documentation somewhere? How could I know that the missing _macro_ indicates a missing program? So _please_ add somewhere in the compile instructions a note on requirements for successful installation. - libtool ( min version ) - automake ( min version ) - autoconfig ( min version ) - and maybe a list of packages, where the DEVEL part is needed ( I needed some time to detect, that the error messages from ./configure were triggered by missing of the -devel packages - where I had the normal library installed ) > didnt the configure script tell you which package it was missing? > Normally it issues an error message if it doesnt find a package. It told my that glib-2.0 was missing. I thought "hey it is installed" - but missed the fact, that the "-dev" package for glib-2.0 is needed. So other people might get a faster success, when the WIKI could list those pacakges, where the "-dev" part is needed. Bye, Achim |

Hi, well I have no precise idea but under gdb I had to single step in irmc_obex_connect (irmc_obex.c), proceeding through BtOBEX_TransportConnect, obex_transport_connect_request, btobex_connect_request. In the latter I once observe the failuer calling one of obex_create_socket or bind (don't know exactly which one, I was stepping too fast...). But usually stepping through btobex_connect_request permits to connect. I'ts with OpenObex1.1 What can I do to help spot the exact problem? Thanks for the pointer: Indeed "mangled merging" would be an interesting feature. Well, it would actually be an indispensable feature. But I fear it may even not be enough: there is the case of devices that not only miss some fields - but messes up the entries, as seems to be the case with my phone. Will it be necessary to have a "buggy device database" with specific code to handle the misbehaviors of all devices? That would be painful!!! I wonder how they manage this in MacOSX. I have not tested syncing with my phone but a friend who has the ancestor of my phone (T750 or something like that) syncs with his mac without problem. Or maybe the field swapping I experienced is not a problem with the phone but with IrMC, How does the IrMC plugin send the VCards to a phone?
