One common way to shade a window is to recess the window in the wall, but the way this is done in EnergyPlus is through a "reveal". Apparently, EnergyPlus automatically calculates these by calculating the separation of the wall and window planes. This is very difficult if not impossible to model in Open Studio as far as I can see.
