Each song, and also each set, is just a file with the name of the song or set which is stored in a folder which depends on your operating system and on your setup. Typically OpenSong creates a folder named "OpenSong" in your home folder, or in your documents folder. Below this folder there are four more folders used by OpenSong:
* Songs
* Sets
* Background
* Settings
These contain each whatever the name suggests. To backup, just copy the files somewhere save. If you do backups of your system as recommended, these files will most likely be included in that backup anyway.
The name of OpenSong's document folder is also displayed on the "File locations "tab in the "General configuration" window, which you open from the "Settings" menu by choosing "General settings..." If this dialog does not display a path to a folder, but instead says "Portable Installation", then the document folder is named "OpenSong Data" and is located where the OpenSong executable is.
To restore, just copy the files back where you copied them from. You may also transfer files to another computer with OpenSong installed. Just copy it to the corresponding folder on the other system.
You should not copy files back and forth between installations of OpenSong with different versions, as this may cause some features to get lost.
If you add or alter files in OpenSong's folder, you best do it while OpenSong is not running. OpenSong will pick up new files automatically when it starts up the next time. But even if you add song or set files while OpenSong is running, there are options to refresh the list of songs or sets respectively from the Settings menu: Refresh Songs Folder and Refresh Sets Folder.
