OpenSong Version 1.2.1, a minor bugfix update to the recently released V1.2, is now available through the SourceForge download system. It is recommended for anyone using 1.2 with the old folder cache setting enabled, or who needs the Set Export function.
OpenSong 1.2 is now available. V1.2 adds support for easier management of the program log file, improved selection of file caching methods and fixes for printer scaling issues.
V1.2 continues the development team's philosophy of continuous improvement and more frequent releases.
OpenSong V1.2 is available for Windows (98 and above), Macintosh OS X 10.3+ and recent Linux distributions. It is developed using REALbasic and was compiled with REALbasic 2007 release 2 for Windows and OS X, and REALbasic 2007 release 3 for Linux.
Version 1.1 of OpenSong, the open source application for helping churches organize songs, lead sheets and presentations, has been released. In addition to correcting several bugs in the V1.0.2 release, V1.1 adds three new features: Set Export, Quick Lookup for songs, and the replacement of the file cache with a new interface to the filesystem that results in improved performance and less confusion when OpenSong files are manipulated outside the program.... read more

After a long and patient wait, another update to the V1.0 Beta 2 release is available through the SourceForge downloads. This release is primarily bug fixes, with a focus on closing out the ones that really need to be fixed before shipping V1.0.
There are some features from some of the developers that haven't made this update. That decision was made in an attempt to maximize stability.
Also, the Subversion area of SourceForge has been populated. The current source code trunk uses a tool for converting RealBasic's binary format to text. See http://www.tempel.org/rb/#prjtool for information on this tool.... read more
A new version of the Beta 2 release has been posted. This clears up some bugs that could lock up or crash OpenSong when printing, as well as correcting an issue with presentation window placement if the control and presentation screens were reversed. See the changelog for more details.
As with the other Beta releases, there is no installer, so you must first have V0.9.9 installed to set up the directory structure and default files. A new English file is included with this release.
The second beta test release for OpenSong V1.0 has been posted to the Files area on SourceForge.
Please report any bugs or issues in the Bugs section of the SourceForge project page. General discussion should go in the V0.9.9 => V1.0 forum.
This is a small bug-fix release that fixes a couple of cosmetic bugs as well as the show-stopping NilPointerException bug when trying to change backgrounds on MacOS X. Enjoy.

OpenSong version 0.9.9 is just a week or so away. It looks great and has a bunch of new features. One new feature of 0.9.9 is multiple language translations. There are a lot of new features with 0.9.8! Here are just a few: new "Logo" and "Freeze" presentation modes, new XML scripture module supports multiple languages (LBLA, MSG, and NLT released also!), vertical and horizontal alert alignments, jump to songs/items in the song list or set list by typing the first part of the desired title, new option for song slides to present copyright info rather than author, ability to adjust slide title and subtitle alignments independently, splash screen now identifies each step of startup, new "full-screen" option in the Presentation Helper, revamped song lookup window, added Right-Click (Control-Click) Cut/Copy/Paste menu for all text fields, added SONG IMPORT from CCLI SongSelect (Just click the Import... button in the Song editor), pressing the 'c' key during presentations will jump right to the current chorus ('b' for bridge, 't' for tag, 'p' for pre-chorus), pressing the '1' thru '9' keys during presentations will jump right to that verse, and MANY bug fixes! See the changelog for a complete rundown of new features/bug fixes.
This release is primarily a bug fix release, but also includes a new cool new feature called "Style Change" items. These set items allows you to change a style mid-way through a set without having to define any custom styles directly into your song files. These Style Change items apply from their position in the set forward, so they can affect multiple items/songs in a set. They can change the current style, or revert to the previous style. Take a look at this cool new feature! Also, there is a new "Copy" button to quickly duplicate set items. (feature request #959279), a new option to not auto-insert blank slides between back-to-back custom set items (feature request #959582), a new license (GPL), some interface enhancements, and MANY bug fixes! Mac users, this one has been tested.
Visit the Downloads/Files section to download version 0.9.6b now! This new version includes a new option for blank slides between each item in a set, a new option to select which screen/monitor is for controller/helper windows and which is for the actual presentation, cleaner drawing when transitions are turned off, a slightly improved look (more so on Mac), a new option for default/initial mode (Normal, Clear, Black, White) when presenting, an improved Scripture picker for mouse users, more font styles (now includes border, border color, shadow, and shadow color), a new option to set a slide's title in the Present Helper independently from the actual displayed title, and many bug fixes!
We at OpenSong have recently decided to utilize some of the hosting features of SourceForge. opensong.org is currently hosted independenty, but shared hosting with SourceForge offers some advantages. For those of you who don't know, SourceForge hosting is a free service provided to open source projects. They provide services such as file hosting (with mirrors), bug tracking, forums, and more. While opensong.org will remain independent of SourceForge, some of our areas, such as the forums, will now be hosted at SourceForge. I have a copy of all the old forum data, and will answer all the bugs/features/yada/yada still in the old forums. Thanks, and let me know what you think!
Drum roll please. The new version includes all sorts of new style, font, background, and alignment settings, cleaner and more feature rich configuration screens, background thumbnail previews, pure XML, a new icon look, auto-advance and loop settings, more keyboard shortcuts, a new shortcut button bar, changes to the Present Helper window, numerous bug fixes, and MORE! See the changelog for all the details! This is a MUST DOWNLOAD. WARNING: This version will upgrade all of your song files to 0.9.5. They will no longer work with older versions. In addition, old set files will be deleted. Their format has completely changed... for the better (XML). Sorry about the trouble. We are still in beta.
