I have the latest version of Open Song for Mac, and I love it.
The only thing is, in the older version of Open Song for Mac, I was able to
display slides using dual-screen. In this version I can only "preview dual-
screen". It's a hassle to try and use OpenSong when displaying with only one
screen, because if I have to switch quickly from one slide to say, one that's
6 slides back, it makes things look sloppy. Please let me know if this issue
has been resolved already and I'm just not aware of it, or if it will be
solved soon?
Thank-you so much, I appreciate all your hard work, OpenSong Team!
Blessings.

Can you give me a little more information so I can try to determine where the
problem is?
Type of Mac?
Version of operating system (from "About this Mac" in the Apple menu)?
Version of OpenSong?
This will give me a place to start digging...I've been working on things
"under the hood" and don't know if something that one of the other devos has
done might have changed things inadvertently on the Mac.
Peace,

The type of Mac that I'm using is the newest Macbook Pro, with Version 10.7.3
of the Lion operating system.
I'm using the most recent version of OpenSong for Mac (1.62), as I couldn't
find a link to download the older version.
All the features seem to operate the same, except when I go to present a set,
the two options I have are "Single Screen" or "Preview Dual-Screen". With my
old macbook, I was able to present using dual-screen which was one of the
options that I loved about the OpenSong program.
I fiddled around with the "Presentation Settings" too, just to see if it was
hidden, but no dice.
Not sure what else I can tell you...if you can point me where to download an
older version of OpenSong for Mac, then maybe that will work for me for now.
Thanks so much for working on this! Love the OpenSong program and us here at
YWAM Maui use it every Monday and Friday at worship!
Blessings,
Caleigh

Usually, when it doesn't display the "dual screen" option in the menu, it
means that OpenSong didn't detect the second monitor when it started up. (It
only checks once on startup - if you happen to connect the monitor after
OpenSong is running, it won't recognize the monitor until you quit and restart
OpenSong).
In Lion, Apple made some changes to how applications quit, so hopefully it's
not an issue with Lion.
Try just quitting the program and restarting it after the external display is
attached and turned on.

It's true, the second monitor needs to be connected when OpenSong starts for
the Dual Monitor option to appear.
I got the impression that this may not be the issue here. Since I am still
using Snow Leopard (10.6) on my MacBook Pro and haven't done any testing on
Lion (10.7), it could be that dual monitor detection isn't working properly or
has some quirks. With the introduction of full-screen applications in Lion, I
can't rule that out.
I'm working to build a Lion testing environment -- a task I've need to do, but
have put off due to other demands on my time -- and will try to see if there
is something I can find in OpenSong that's causing the issue.

Well, I did a clean install of OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) to my MacBook Pro, then
downloaded and installed OpenSong V1.6.2 from our website. Using a mini-
DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to connect up a second screen, I fired up OpenSong
and had no issues with Dual Display. I'll admit it's not a definitive
statement that it works, but at least it indicates to me that we may be
dealing with an issue on how your system is configured, not that there is a
problem with OpenSong.
When you plug in your external display, go to System Preferences/Displays,
then check to make sure that your external display isn't a mirror of the
internal one. In other words, the check box I've circled on this screen shot
should be UNchecked.
And, BTW, to get to other versions of the program, visit our site on
SourceForge, http://www.sourceforge.net/project/opensong and check out the Files section. All of our
versions, going back to the beginning of time :-) are available there.
Let me know what happens with your system. If this isn't the problem, we'll
start looking somewhere else.

Thanks for the help, I'll check on Monday at our worship service to see if
this all works. I've always been making sure that I plug in my macbook and
THEN open OpenSong, so I had assumed it wasn't an issus with the program not
recognizing the secondary monitor. I will try this, and let you know how it
works out!

Interestingly enough, I installed both the Beta 2.0 version, and an older
version (1.5.1), and had same problem with both. This leads me to believe that
it must have something to do with the default display settings on the Macbook
pro. My older Macbook (circa 2008) had no problem identifying the external
display, but for some reason the pro needs to be doctored up a bit in order to
have it display on a secondary monitor. I noticed that a friend of mine was
having the same problem on his Macbook Pro, so it's something that I'll have
to take a look at on Monday. Will let you know how it all works out. Again,
thanks for all the help, it is SO appreciated!
