*interoperability* That is I do not need to download a new player

interoperability terms. With VLC you don=92t need any other =96 it also =
supports
DVD movies and so on=85 I think that VLC is (in my opinion) our best =
choice!

Or the player should be preinstalled in order to open up as integrated =

an appropriate stream encountered ?

least it should be a requirement in order to access to DRM-protected

[Carlos Serrao] Sure it can, if you give permissions for that. Windows =
Media
Player is automatically configured to take over some of the more =
well-known
content formats. But you can override this. And remember that for =
Europe,
Microsoft in now obligated to supply a version of Windows XP without the
Windows Media Player (I think this is called Windows XP N ???).

From our own experience, since we have done this to the Zinf player and =
MP3,
protecting and integrating the protection on the player is not an easy =
task
=96 that=92s why this is a task that needs a good knowledge of the =
content
formats and C/C++ programming. I also think that our strategy should be =
as
much as possible to preserve the content format, and only protected the
content data. For instance, in the case of MP3, we have only ciphered =
the
audio data, maintaining the MP3 file structure.

history. For the future I think the following factors are key to the =

- Openness to as many content rendering devices (players/viewers) as

- Easy extendibility & good documentation

Having worked on the original architecture I have the following areas I
would like to contribute:

- Server platform enhancement, security of the SOAP/XML interfaces =
between
the servers

- Cleaning up the code

I am also interested in integrating another player with the system =
Videolan
VLC may be an interesting candidate.  =20
