I understand there was initially some concern about 1.5's availability on some platforms... which platforms would that be, exactly? I'm wondering if that availability is still an issue. For one thing, it'd be nice to clean up the Containers code in OpenRPG2 make it generics-friendly. There are a few other new features in 1.5 that in my opinion would make the shift worthwhile if it's at all feasible to do so... Anyways, of course Sun supports Windows, Solaris, and Linux at http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp ; Apple supports the Mac version at http://developer.apple.com/java/download/ ; and for FreeBSD it's available at http://www.freebsdfoundation.org/downloads/java.shtml As far as I'd imagine, the more obscure platforms that we might have been hoping to support probably don't even have 1.4 anyways so we wouldn't be losing them by moving to 1.5. Which platforms have 1.4 but don't have 1.5? >> Mark |
