The Windows version of OpenQVis throws a NULL
memory dereference exception- in fact the offending
instruction is at offset 0x00000000, so I suspect that
there is a build problem!
I'm using Windows 2000, SP4. I downloaded OpenQVis
and it is installed with all of its components in a single
\bin directory. I also downloaded three of the smaller
data files. I select Open from the File menu, change the
file type in the Open File dialog to *.dat, and double-
click on any data file.
I immediately see the system error dialog.

Hi David,
I am having the same problem with Windows 2000. Did you
find a way to make the program work?

It's hard for me to reproduce the error, but it seems like there
is a problem with binding to some OpenGL extension.
(OpenQVis checks for available OpenGL extensions at
runtime)
Would you please try the following:
Before you open a data file,
select "Options->Preferences" from the menu, then
select Direct (2D Tex) and press "Apply" of "Save"
If this works, try out the other draw styles from the volume
menu.
