Hi list, I've been using openquicktime on linux x86 and I've encountered problems when playing movies with xine and mplayer. Below are the combinations I have found to be working correctly. Other codecs didn't work. I don't recall the result with 'unsupported' video codecs. I know the result with 'unsupported' audio codec is an awful audio playback. mplayer: Sound: "A-Law 2:1" Video: "motion jpeg", or "photo jpeg" xine: Sound: "IMA 4:1", or "Twos Complement - big endian" Video: "motion jpeg", or "photo jpeg" Here are other notes I gathered. I've found the following problems when playing oqt encoded movies in Apple QT 6.5.1 (Windows XP): Sound ima4: No sound playing at all. Other audio codecs are fine. Video: TIFF: Doesn't work. TIFF pb : doesn't work. And finally, a 16:9 movie does not appear with an appropriate ratio in mplayer. I understand this may be a problem with the players I used and not the openquicktime plugin. I didn't know where to throw the ball first so I played it heads or tail. Any guidance will be much appreciated. |
