As an aside, I have worked with the Equillogic engineers and developers and there is work being done on securing an API that will abstract the system so that you don't need to rely on the CLI interface any more.  This came out of the pain I had with writing software for the UNIX and GNU/Linux environment to manage the EQL devices.

I believe it will also be open source/free
