If you follow Liviu's build instructions to the letter everything will build perfectly every time. I've done it many times myself. Once you have his stuff building as is you can experiment with changing the build scripts or sources according to your requirements if necessary. But start first by just building everything without any changes. Is suggest starting with a clean (virtual) machine and doing everything from scratch before making any changes.
