You were correct. On my device the string was “Digilent USB Device” and once I changed the config, I was able to properly connect to the devices on my JTAG chain.

Check lsusb -v -d 0403:6014 and look at the product string. Perhaps it doesn't match the config ("Digilent Adept USB Device")?
