Thanks Paul and Angus, That was exactly what I needed. I'll see how far I get with the bit bang mode. I saw that FT230X support was added to libftdi, knew that OpenOCD used libftdi, and tried to follow along... When I was searching, I missed your earlier post because it referred to the FT232R.
