Indeed, I just tried it and it worked.  Says "FTDI SWD mode enabled" and
"SWD IDCODE 0x1ba01477" which seems to indicate it is in SWD mode.

Probably want to remove the text "in 2009, OpenOCD does not support SWD."
from the scripts/interface/luminary.cfg file, since its no longer valid.
