This happens on some windows systems with a 'low' samples set. On my deskop system samples = 4096 solves it, but that gives way too much lag. On my laptop there are no ticks with samples = 512 even. Easiest to hear the problem is in the intro tune of La Abadia Del Crimen (which is attached) Main suspect is the new SDL libs that were used shortly after releasing 0.5.0. The old libs will have to be rebuild and tested before it's absolutely sure. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Herman Oudejans (h_oudejans) Date: 2005-03-10 19:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=773101 New insights, setting SDL_AUDIODRIVER=waveout also sets the sample value to 8192 causing a big delay. So, this is not the solution. There are some nasty bugs in the SDL waveout driver. Not closing the sound and repoting the wrong samples value. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Herman Oudejans (h_oudejans) Date: 2005-03-09 22:16 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=773101 After recompiling I found out that it's not the SDL version. Also it did occur in 0.5.0. Setting SDL_AUDIODRIVER=waveout helps a lot, but the current version of openMSX doesn't boot the msx when this variable is set. I have pinpointed where this freeze first occurs: openMSX 1503 (20-11-2004 12:00) does work with waveout openMSX 1504 (20-11-2004 20:00) doesn't compile openMSX 1505 (20-11-2004 23:00) does NOT work with waveout ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=421861&aid=1157787&group_id=38274 |
