I’m not sure what this forum is meant to be. Is it meant to be solely for OpenHTM development, or as a replacement for the Numenta forum? I guess this might be undecided, which is fine.
I want to contribute to this project, but I couldn’t be an actual member because I am new with programming and I don’t have the time.

Mostly this is about development, but we also use it for the general topic of HTMs.
If you are new to programming you will have an opportunity to contribute by creating a plug-in when we have the plug-in API complete. We hope this will allow for experimentation and improvements outside of the core CLA algorithms.
Keep checking back for a beta release that has the plug-in api.

I don't know. I guess how it works. Is there anything you would like me to work on? I could try making a program which uses the output for motor control or something. I think it might be better for me to work on my own project though.

You can of course download the code and debug it. Then you will learn a lot. Experiment with it. I would not recommend doing your own motor control because this might be rather complex
