    Hello!
I downloaded the source code and successfully compiled it on my PC. Although I have learned some knowledge about CLA and HTM, I am still not able to use the tool. For instance, I don't know what the input xlm files should be. Can u give us some more user guide? Thank you!

      Hi!
It's nice to see people are interested in our project.
As you can (not) see in our files section there was no releases yet and many features, such as file loading are still under development.
We all try hard to make it work, so soon you'll see it working.
We plan to make some changes to the file format and implement some additional load/save features.

We will post here when the feature is ready.

      I've tested it:
you can load a file that you saved before (after changing options in main menu)

However it's not necessary to load a file, a new network is created by default and can be launched by clicking main panel buttons as they become available (and you read their description)

The Documentation contents page links currently take us back to the summary page, which is confusing. Could you set place-holder 'under construction' pages as link targets instead?

I'm willing to help with the documentation, which I think is important for the project even at this early stage.

      Hi

I'm willing to help with the documentation

Do you mean wiki pages? Do you have any experience in that?

Hello, all! I'm a new arrival here as well (first post) and wanted to second the request for more documentation! Some sort of "getting started guide" or at least advice for installation would be most helpful. As Simalcron3 mentioned, the documentation links on the wiki home page currently circle back to the homepage itself. At least, installation instructions would be nice!

I'm new to both SourceForge and C# so not sure where to start. I managed to get hold of the source using "download snapshot" from the Code section. (hope that was right...?) I notice there are .sln, .suo and .csproj files mixed in with the source code which makes me think the project was compiled with Visual Studio, is that right? Is there any free alternative compiler? My computer has the csc.exe command line compiler, would this be sufficient?

Also, on the requirements section it says Windows 7 is the minimum requirement, is that true? Unfortunately, I only have Windows Vista and Windows XP machines. It seems a bit strange that Win7 is needed, my Vista computer has .NET 4.5 installed, might these be sufficient?

I'm most impressed by the work you are doing and look forward to getting it working so I can try it soon!

You don't need to have Win7+ I've compiled and run it on WinXP using Free MS C# express edition. You can both download the snapshot as you did or better is pulling from git version so you can update you local version after each change on the server.

      Hello,
I have updated the Wiki page. Yes, it looks like you can use XP too but we didn't try it before and that's why it wasn't listed.
You can leave your feedback for user interface here https://sourceforge.net/p/openhtm/discussion/general/thread/a91a93f9/.

My computer has the csc.exe command line compiler, would this be sufficient?

You can use OpenHTM binaries without compilation although it would be updated less frequently. And please, don't forget that OpenHTM is now under active development so the things like file formats can change.

Nick and Softnhard, Thanks very much for your help!

I did not see any binaries when I downloaded the snapshot. Could you tell me where they are? All I can see is source code.

When I downloaded the snapshot I got a .tar.gz file. Winzip could not decompress it but I managed to decompress with 7-zip. There is a binaries folder but it does not contain a .EXE file...

Look in Files section. I uploaded the most recent version there. If you have any trouble, write in the thread by the link above.

Many thanks. I downloaded and was able to run the file OPENHTM.IDE.exe. However the option to visualise the neural network does not work for me, the program crashes when I try it. Everything else seems to be ok. I can view the "statistics and information", "log" and "input versus predictions" tabs ok.

Yes, it was reported before. Have you installed XNA redistributable?

Ah, that was the problem! Installed XNA now and it all works fine. Sorry about that!
