Hi, OpenPhone does not run on linux. I presume you mean ohphone. Sound quality on linux is fine for many people From:: http://www.openh323.org/pipermail/openh323/2003-February/026656.html it is possible that the UDP packets containing the audio are being lost/delayed/mutilated in the network. One test for this is to run in trace level 5 the debug version of the code. At the end of the log file containing the trace output, there is a summary of network performance. You see how many packets were late etc. Please do this, as it verifies that sound packets arrived at your machine (you should therefore hear something), AND, it verifies that sound packets left your machine (the other person should hear something). It is more reasonable to think that there is a problem with soundcards. The card used needs to be full duplex. Under linux, open two consoles. In one, play sound to the speaker. In the other, record sound from the mic. Use the command line tools "play" and "rec" Now, under windows, the kernel is clever, in that it has features which make it possible to use a half duplex card in full duplex mode. (in fact, I am told that some linux sound systems do this also). I am a skeptic, and do not trust such systems to work reliably. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Your argument about your sound card is invalid. Please test your card. Is it full duplex? Another thing you can do is turn off echo cancellation at your end, and a= t the other end. You can increase the size of your jitter buffer. This can help.
