Sorry about the delay, but I think I fixed the basemap bug. Could you get
a fresh copy from the repo?

Besides fixing the bug, I also made a couple of other updates. In
particular, you can now enter several commands at once, e.g,
ga("""
set lat 30 60
set lon -80 -50
set t 1 3
query dims
""")
The default binary is now "grads" (used to be gradshdf). I also made a
couple of adjustments on the ensemble dimension handling. BTW, I found a bug
in the v2.0 of ipc_load() which I just fixed in the repo; this only import
if using ga.imp(). Pygrads should now be 100% functional with GrADS v2.0.
Mike: now query("dims") always sets the e-diemension, even in v1.0, in which
case there is only 1 ensemble member.
Let me know if I broke something else.
