In 2D cases checkMesh reports cells that have a high aspect ratio only due to their extent in the empty direction. This distracts from real high aspect ratio problems in 2D domains.

Furthermore the message "All edges aligned with or perpendicular to non-empty directions." is ambiguous and should read "All edges aligned with or perpendicular to empty direction(s)."

This can be checked easily by changing the z-value from 0.1 to 1e5 in the cavity tutorial.
