Dear All,

The OpenFOAM Stammtisch is intended as an informal user meeting for
FOAMers in Germany. Previous meetings have been organised regionally,
but there had been strong interest in a "united" Stammtisch where the
regional groups have a chance to meet.

The general consensus was that "united" should not alter the nature of
the event. Stammtisch United will be hands-on, low-key, non-conference,
university-based and non-profit. The remaining questions shall be
discussed at the Stammtisch - Let's try.

Due to popular demand, this Stammtisch is synchronsised with the
"Jahrestreffen der Fachausschüsse Computational Fluid Dynamics und
Mischvorgänge" of ProcessNet

* 5th OpenFOAM Workshop, 21.-24.6 in Göteborg

Technical sessions, plenary sessions and poster sessions will be held on June 
22nd and June 23rd. June 24th will be dedicated to collaborative work. It will 
be encouraged through working group activities, BoF sessions, clinics and 
plenary sessions.

For the benefit of new users and people interested in knowing the OpenFOAM 
simulation platform, a Basic Training will be organized on June 21st. For more 
advanced users, an Advanced Training will also be organized on June 21st. 

We received 80 presentations (--> two sessions) and expect a sizeable number

The Summer School shall concentrate on providing tuition for a small and 
selected group of students and researchers in academia and industry. The idea

and programming skills of attendees using OpenFOAM in their research through 
direct supervision and one-to-one work. Lectures on chosen topics of 
mathematical and numerical modelling pertinent to coupled problems in 
engineering and applied physics will be delivered in addition.

Dear OpenFOAM community,

With this message I would like to inform/remind you that the 5th OpenFOAM 
workshop will take place at Chalmers, Gothenburg, Sweden, June 21-24, 2010.

The homepage, www.openfoamworkshop.org, has been updated with an abstract 
submission form, and the final date for abstract submission is set to March 
15th. The scope of the workshop covers all aspects of OpenFOAM usage.

The workshop fees will be announced shortly, but the workshop is a non-profit 
event, so the fees will be kept as low as possible. Keep your eyes open for 
updates of the homepage, announcements in the forum, or send an e-mail to 
of...@op... to be included in the announcement e-mail list.

The organizers of the 4th (previous) workshop, in Montreal, Canada, 2009, has 
decided that all the money left from that activity will be spent by offering 
financial support for participation at the 5th workshop, for selected 
participants. Details on how to apply for such funding is now also available 
at the homepage. The deadline for this is also March 15th.

Preliminary reservations of hotel rooms have been made. Each hotel alternative 
has separate deadlines. Please make your registration directly with the hotel 
of your choice according to the instructions at the homepage, as soon as you 
have decided to attend the workshop. NOTE that the cheapest alternative has a 
deadline before the workshop registration deadline!!!

Some information about Sweden and Gothenburg at the time of the workshop:
* 19th of June the crown princess Victoria will get married in Stockholm: 
http://www.royalcourt.se/. Hotels in Stockholm at that time are already almost 
fully booked!
* 21st of June is the longest day of the year, and in the Gothenburg region 
you will experience only about four hours of darkness during night. In 
northerns Sweden you would experience midnight sun.
* 25th and 26th of June are Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day in Sweden. This is 
a national holiday with lots of traditional celebrations. One of the largest 
celebrations in the Gothenburg region will take place at Nääs slott,

Dear Southbound Foamers interested in Multiphase Flow,

As announced by Ivana, the next Stammtisch takes place at the 5. of
November. We felt that the Multiphase Special Interest Group was a little
overcrowded and hence not very effective. We would now like to overcome this
by "imposing" some structure in form of an agenda. Of course, everybody is
welcome to participate and contribute.

1.	Introduction of the new concept of the Special Interest Group 	Multiphase Flow (15 min)
	1.1 Responsibilities:

	b)	Two-Fluid-Method

der TU Braunschweig (Institut für Thermodynamik) statt.

        The OpenFOAM Documentation Project
        
that has just gone online!

The OpenFOAM Documentation Project (OFDP) is essentially a team of experienced 
OpenFOAM users (volunteers) with minimal central organization. It is hoped to 
establish a high quality system of OpenFOAM documentation that is easy to use 
and search through. All OFDP documentation is freely available, licensed under 
the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License 1.3.

The basic idea ...

The basic idea was to create a Joomla-based website (a professional content 
managed system for web content) for OpenFOAM documentation. This is quite 
flexible and professional in terms of layout, extensions and administrations.

For typesetting OpenFOAM documentation we chose LaTeX - a high-quality 
typesetting system which includes features designed for the production of 
technical and scientific documentation. Using LaTeX templates along with a own 
OFDP style-file and macros specific for OpenFOAM documentation, a professional 
layout is achieved for OFDP Documentation.

The CMS Joomla! as well as LaTeX are both inherent parts of the OFDP. It is 
strongly believed that both "ingredients" are crucial for a monolithic, coherent 
and attractive handbook/guide system for OpenFOAM.

On the Website of the OpenFOAM Documentation Project, LaTeX-Templates are 
provided, that can be freely downloaded and modified, containing the current 
documentation status of
  * OpenFOAM's top-level utilities
  * OpenFOAM's top-level models
  * OpenFOAM's top-level solvers  
as they come along with the released OpenFOAM distributions. Accordingly, there 
is a OFDP documentation download section where you can download
  * The OpenFOAM Utility Guide
  * The OpenFOAM Modeling Guide
  * The OpenFOAM Solvers Guide
as pdf-files, which will be maintained and updated regularly.

IMPORTANT: Any modifications CANNOT be uploaded directly but have to be sent to 
a third-party reviewer resp. an expert of a special interest group (SIG). The 
reviewed document will be sent to an administrator of the OFDP, who will upload 
the contribution. The contributor and reviewer will be added to a list of 
authors and reviewers in the document. At the same time, the document version 
number will be increased accordingly.

In addition, the OFDP documentation includes integration of a list of all the 
major OpenFOAM documentation sites with similar goals and the hosting of a 
OpenFOAM tutorial collection on this website.
