Dear foamers, my apologies for using this mailing list for an announcement not directly related to OpenFOAM. But the topic is important for scientists in Austria. As you know, in 2021 the amendment to the Universities Act (UG Novelle 2021) changed the paragraph that regulates fixed-term contracts at a public Austrian university (§109 UG). The new rules (maximum duration of fixed-term contracts 8 years) are problematic for many scientists in Austria. For this reason, the initiative NUWiss ("Netzwerk Unterbau Wissenschaft", nuwiss.at) has been founded to jointly advocate for better working conditions in academia. In order to create a solid basis for future discussions with university management and the government, NUWiss has developed a survey on the employment conditions of scientists with special focus on §109. The survey addresses all members of the 'Mittelbau' (scientists other than full professors and some associate professors) at all public Austrian universities as well as former colleagues. I cordially ask you to take part in the survey: https://bit.ly/nuwiss-survey2023 It is anonymous and only takes 10 minutes. Please, also motivate your colleagues to take part and forward this invitation to colleagues who have left the university in the last years. Fell free to post the attached flyer in the hallway or kitchenette. The broader the participation in the survey, the better is the basis for our arguments. Thank you! An invitation to this survey already might have been distributed at your university (e.g. by the head of the works council). In this case or if you have already partcipated: sorry for cross posting. With many thanks and best regards, Christiane -- Dr. Christiane Lechner Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer, TU Wien, Getreidemarkt 9, A-1060 Vienna, Austria Tel:+43-(0)1-58801 32211, Fax: +43-(0)1-58801 32298 |
