#4 EXIReader: null prefix not handled
in ReaderSupport.doAttribute(), null prefix is not handled correctly if m_pserserveNS is true. The doAttribute() method throws a NullPointerException if the prefix is null because it does not check whether prefix is null or not before checking prefix.length !=0.
Discussion
I exercised a case where an attribute is unqualified, and I could not reproduce the problem.
Please take a look at the test case testNamespaceDeclaration_02() in EXIReaderTest.
To reproduce the problem, use a qualified name for the attribute e.g. nsprefix:attribute but do not declare a namspace for it i.e do not declate xmlns:nsprefix=x.y.z
Transmogrifier now checks the veracity of attribute prefixes as of version 0000.0001.0306.0. This makes sure that Transmogrifier generates correct streams that uses the right attribute prefixes.
How about checking for attrPrefix != null before checking attrPrefix.length() !=0? Your Transmogrifier 'only' fix assumes that the EXIInput to EXIReader was generated by openEXI. The input to EXIReader might have been generated by a faulty EXI/XML writer.
There are all sorts of corrupted bits in a stream possible that makes one close to conformant EXI stream but not quite it is. The cause of each corruption is unable to identify, but only can be speculated. OpenEXI decoder is not meant for always gracefully handling corrupt streams. If and when this specific style of corruption is found typical in the future, I will add some code on the decoder side to gracefully report an error.
