i tried the EDF->ASCII converter, it produces value-pairs in readable 
floating point notation like

0.000000e+00    2.343750e+02
3.906250e-03    2.343750e+02

where the first value is the time in seconds and the second value is the 
channel value.
however, i dont see a way to export a multichannel EDF file into ascii 
using this tool.
